Hi
So just a quick question, how do you change the names of devices connected to the Sky Router in the settings? I've looked under all tabs but can't see where lol.
Thanks in Advance
Barry 🙂

@Tyl3r99 wrote:@Steve-35 where did you get your cable from? Do they do a rj11 to rj11 variant? Seems like it's a good quality cable and I'm in same boat as you.
Socket is not close to plug socket
If yes where did you get it from? 🙂
A reliable source I have used is run-it-direct. Just Google them.
You need to look at the ADSL/VDSL patch leads for the best performance..
If you have a very reliable line, you could use a longer rj11 cable or even use two Sky rj11 cables and use a rj11 coupler. This works but can cuase a little interference in some cases with a small loss in download speed.

You cannot change the device names as they appear in Attached Devices or under the System Summary page.
Afraid you will have to put up with names like Sky+HD and Unknown.
It should pick up most modern kit with a fairly sensible name.
The Sky routers firmware for this and previous Sky routers have been lazy in the way they pull the device names.
You can assign an IP address so it always keeps its address reservation (if you need that) and you can then edit the name of that device..
But that still does not change anything within the Attached Devices and System Summary pages. It just shows it as you changed it on the Lan IP reservation page.

@Tyl3r99 I’ve had a quick look & while I’m no expert the cable you’ve linked to looks up to the job. I got mine from eBay, I’ll post the link once I’m home.

Yeah I mean standard sky adsl cable is 3m long but just need 1 more metre so speed shouldn't be affected or very minimalistic

@Steve-35 Took your advice and tried Sky again to try get my hands on the new Hub and this time with success thankfully. Managed to recontract onto Superfast with WiFi guarantee £10 month less than I am paying for my existing max broadband talk package and no upfront delivery or admin fees. System was still trying to charge me £48 but agent persisted this time and got agreement from his team manager to waive the fee so more than happy 👍. Just hope the new hub lives up to the hype !

@DaveLloyd That’s good news then. Softens the blow of no Ultrafast for the time being lol. Got my Hub earlier today, all set up but only thing I can’t get it to pair with yet is my TV, TV won’t connect for whatever reason! It finds the newtwork no problem but despite repeated attempts to pair it & double & triple checking password it’s not playing ball. My “smart” TV is now a dumb TV.

@Sinth assuming you were referring to my smart TV gone dumb then yeah it was concerning but I have it up & running now thankfully! Had an issue with one of my minis as well but again that resolved itself after a few minutes.
Got 9 devices connected via WiFi so now time to sit back, chill out & see if this Hub is as good as made out.

I have Samsung Smart TV and have had issues with it connecting to WIFI. Try resetting your TV bs k to factory settings and then re trying as it worked for me

@jamesn123 - unplugged my old hub and connected up the new one. Speed is slightly higher than the q hub. After about half an hour I lost Internet but it came back and has been ok since (touches wood). The WiFi range does seem better and on my mobile the speed tests mirror those I get over ethernet to my pc so definitely a good improvement. 👍

@andytoll I’ve genuinely no idea how I eventually got it working as I wasn’t really paying full attention lol but I just kept messing about with it & eventually it decided to work.
