Is there a £40 cost for an Openreach engineer coming out to install my WiFi router?
I have an open reach engineer claiming that we have to pay £40 for his service (installing WiFi router which was not optional) even though sky did not mention at all but that was part of it? Are we being scammed?

It was just a mandatory WiFi router installation

@M7H7If you are getting superfast broadband then this is a self install normally. Should not need an Openreach engineer to do this install for you unless you are unable to do this yourself.

Certainly pretty dodgy: Openreach personnel should not be demanding on-the-spot payment even if an additional charge was legitimate. Anyway, they are commissioned to do the job by Sky, not the subscriber.

Sounds more like an Openreach subcontractor trying to boost his income. 😀
