I'm getting calls from people asking if I called them

I've switched to sky pay as you talk  from call any time  for my land line a few months ago, and I've started getting lots of phone calls asking to speak to people I don't know(the number didn't change).

I've disconneted the phone to stop the calls, but reconnected it recently so I can be  reached in case my mobile does not have a signal.  I'm getting less call now, however a few times a day I get calls from people asking if I called them.

Can anyone recommend the best way to deal with this please?  I've contacted customer support in the past but they didn't know what could be wrong.   I would rather not turn on sky talk shield as I believe something is wrong with the line itself and I would prefer not to change my number.

Check your bill to make sure you're not being charged for the calls others appear to have been receiving. That may indicate fault.

I suspect, however, that there's nothing is wrong with your line. Scammers often fabricate ('spoof') the number they're calling from so as not to be traceable or to appear genuine. It's likely that a scammer has randomly chosen a number which happens to match yours.

The Sky Talk Shield is the best way to avoid having to deal with incoming calls ypu don't want.
