Re: How is the new F1 season going so far, any issues?

I had a similar experience - watch F1 live until lap 43 then needed to go out.  Put the TV on pause (even though the programme was in my playlist I did not trust that I would find the playback.  Unfortunately by the time I came back the TV had unpaused itself and was into the post race programme.  Searched everywhere but could not find how to replay (even from the start).

The replay finally appeared on Monday morning and it remembered where I was up to watching live so there is some connection between where you were and when you stopped watching but without the programme being available for at least 12 hours after the even that is USELESS!!!!!

My suspicion is that SKY are doing this with woefully inadequate servers behind the scenes to accomodate the demand for this service.  Ideally you should be able to immediately go back in the planner and restart any program that has already been broadcast or started broadcasting. What takes place in the 12+ hours the program is not available? There is no editing of the program required and it must be on the server already otherwise you would not be able to 'watch from start' during a live broadcast.  This lack of server processing also accounts for breakups, freezing and out of sync audio issues experienced on all channels at busy evening periods.

I have also read on forums that you have a personal 'recording in the cloud' but this is not true otherwise your 'recordings' would be immediately available.

It could be an excellent service if the backend was appropriately spec'd - guess it is another case of profit before service!!!!

This does appear to exist, but is only used in particular circumstances such as when a channel does not have its own dedicated 'catch-up' service.

Re: How is the new F1 season going so far, any issues?

Saturday's qualifying took 4+ hours to appear in our playlist. We watched the highlights at 7pm instead. We watched Sundays GP live and I'm glad we did as it's still not in the play list.

I've tweeted Sky here but radio silence: https://twitter.com/jlscott_77/status/1505608029315772423

Starting to think they've not go full streaming rights for F1.

Best to tweet @skyhelpteam the @skyuk seems to be the marketing only and less monitored account.

It is erratic, and may be down to back end capacity/ issues? Because F1 FP1 and FP2 seemed to work as designed. Was available to me pretty much instantly.

but then from FP3, qualifying and the race was a disaster..

Sky need to tell us IF it will be fixed, and IF so by WHEN?

then we can decide to hang on or cancel.

simple as that

Just re-checked the FAQ's. Which have been changed/updated recently...!

"Live UHD sport events won't show in your Playlist, as these can only be viewed live at the moment. We hope to have this resolved soon."

That's specifically for the known issue with UHD, what about just being able to watch in HD as soon as it's finished?

Re: How is the new F1 season going so far, any issues?

I am so dissapointed with Sky Customer Service.

So I've just been told that there is no technical issue, its a licensing issue and shows can take 48 hours to apperar in your playlist.  I've refused to buy that and gone thourgh all these issues we have all discussed, and am now being told a manager will call me back within two hours.

I had to ask the guy three times to put me though to a manager, as he swears blind a manager will tell me the same thing.

This is absolutey ridiculous.

The link tells you exactly the hook we all bought into.  Shocking we are all being told different things.

@CP+1960

Obviously there is a tremendous amount of anger and frustration being expressed about the fiasco of the F1 coverage this weekend by a lot of viewers.

A number of individuals have reported that they have been in contact with Sky but there is enormous variation in what people are being told and the excuses being used, which indicates that staff are not being briefed with any actual factual information and are likely making their response up based on hearsay and their own, probably limited, experience.

As many have said, it's ridiculous that Sky has made no formal response or apology, and frankly I will be amazed if they do based on previous experience.

It is good that you have insisted on speaking to a manager and not just letting it go, would you please feed back to this thread what the outcome of the conversation is?

Any admission that there are problems what the problems are, a roadmap and timescale for fixes and any temporary reduction in the Sky Sports price, and/or an F1 only package at say £10pm would be great topics to raise if you have the opportunity.

Good luck!

Re: How is the new F1 season going so far, any issues?

What I don't understand is this:

Do I have to playlist every part of a session (ie P1, P2, P3, Qualifying etc) or do I just playlist one and the rest get picked up through series link?
I have currently playlisted everything, and the race appeared this morning (in UHD). P1 and P2 appeared almost immediately after broadcast. P3 and Q were a day late. All in UHD.

@AJM1972 This is an exact mirror of what happened to me.

it's clear it's not user side issues.

@AJM1972 you shoould have to but this weekend whatever Sky has done has broken the Playlist - I had. both HD and UHD on the playlist and have only got the Friday and Saturday practice on the Playlist. I can access the race in HD by going to the Sports tile on the scond rail scrolling down and finding a programme labelled as a Grid review or similar. - it is over 2 hours and is the race.

Nothing in UHD of course. 🤬

Re: How is the new F1 season going so far, any issues?

Don't get your hopes up on a cost reduction as i mentioned in one of my earlier posts as there is no tv package contract with Sky Glass there are no options on the operators system to apply any type of discount as they don't exist, when i pushed on this i was eventually offered a free movie from sky store, still waiting on a code for that and no doubt it will be a movie on special offer and probably nothing i want to see.

However that said and done yes please give us an update on what the manager said, and it might be worth while us all asking to speak with a manager, probably wont solve anything but it would be nice to hear if all the managers are at least on the same page and giving us the same information..

Re: How is the new F1 season going so far, any issues?

I've set my Picture streaming preferences to HD now (crazy though given I'm paying for UHD). Have removed then added the specific HD F1 series for Friday onwards and will see what happens.

But, surely any historical HD content should also be available? Christ, so many of last years races and qualifying are still showing.  Has anyone got Sundays race to view in their Playlist, as either HD or UHD? All we can see are the 45 minute highlights plus a range of other non-GP programmes.

Starting to wonder if Sky have lost caching / streaming rights this year.

Sky Help Team on Twitter gave this stock answer:

Hi Jason, Sky Glass content is uploaded to playlist once a catch up file has been created and uploaded for users to download. This will not be an immediate thing in most cases but we aim to upload as soon as possible. Daniel
