Hate sky q tv guide layout after upgrading, options left?
HI, I upgraded to sky q-installed last tues. this might be hard to explain to most, but the new tv guide makes the way i use tv, not the same now. I hate the new layout.
Bascally, Im not a big tv person, and what i do might sound weird, but around 6pm each day Ill turn of my old hd box, I basically, go to page one scan left to right til mightnight and if i see anything im interested in, I set to record, then on to page two scan back from midnight to 6.00pm and do same, page three and left to right again, usually very little interests me, I only select something to record maybe every second night, but this is done in five mins, stopping about page 4... then when Im ready later in the night or week, I can watch, wh at ive recorded. I dont just turn on tv and watch whats on currently.
NOw, in sky q, if your on page one, doing what i have done, and four channels down theres a program at 9. when I go to select that to record, now the page one auto scrolls down, from that channel to next so many, so im not getting to quickly scan across on a group of channels, its turned me off using it. When I rang sky they said, im stuck with it now, as they dont, reswap stuff on dish, and its there to stay. my question is; Ive an uncle who use to be good with dishes etc, could he swap out the installed bits tues on my dish, backwards, the cables I had for sky hd+ are same ones still be used now engineers didnt have to change, and also my old hd+ viewing card is one now being used for q, so if my uncle knew what was needed could he undo the new fit on dish and I get back the use of my old hd box, only reason I upgraded was my box was tiny and always full compared with my parents hd box.

Re: Hate sky q tv guide layout after upgrading, options left?
you have a 14 day period of grace within which you can demand that Sky revert you back to your old system.
EDIT;
Ignore this advice. I'm wrong and stand corrected. This advice given in good faith is now out of date. Sorry for any confusion. It appears you will need to adjust your viewing practices accordingly @Scottybombotty . I'm sure you'll become accustomed to Q and grow to like it as the majority of us do. Good luck.

So far as doing it yourself via your uncle the answer is no. Sky will have disabled the viewing card when you changed to Q. HD+ & Q are completely different entities. You need to call Sky and speak to somebody.

@Morgan+McDonnell afraid Sky have changed the goalposts on this now.
Only in certain circumstances can you go back to the old Sky system and not liking it isn't one of them you now have the option to cancel Sky in the 14 day cooling off period but not a right to go back to the old system.
We don't know what would happen if someone challenged this in court.
We think this is due to Sky now thinking of Sky HD+ as being a legacy system now

@Laing1 I stand corrected and educated. Every day's a school day as they say. I guess it was always going to happen. Thanks for that.
@Scottybombotty Please ignore my first post. I have imparted out of date advice re reverting to your old Sky HD.

@Morgan+McDonnell Every day is a school day on here, I agree with you it was always going to happen at some point but i really feel that Sky should be relaying this to customers who are switching over.
As I said there are still certain circumstaces where customers can revert ie accessibilty reasons etc

Re: Hate sky q tv guide layout after upgrading, options left?
so, even though the card now in the sky q box was the card in my old hd+ box, it would work, they cutoff and swap the service to the viewing card??
I dont really care for uhd or did I need more than two recordings at once most times, just the box I got day one for HD+ was very small and always deleting stuff
I wish I could have previwed it now

The Sky Q box is dreadful piece of kit. I cannot conceive how anyone came up with this navigation model. It is utterly unintuitive. Give me back my old box please!

Re: Hate sky q tv guide layout after upgrading, options left?
Q has been around since 2016, which is hopefully long enough to permit potential users to assess its viability for themselves. Sky generally don't now permit reversion to Sky+ as it's no longer a current product: cancellation is possible under statutory consumer rights.

Re: Hate sky q tv guide layout after upgrading, options left?
It does take some getting used to, but with the addition of apps into Q, there will have been natural changes to the intergration of the system.
The move to follow the "Netflix model" of rows of shows that are then categorised has taken precedent. The voice remote works really well though if you try and search for a programme.
If I’ve helped today, give me a like.
Sky Stream and whole home.
