Sky Q and magic eye

My sky Q box is now located in a cupboard and my TV on the wall.  My remote will not work unless I have the cupboard door open and it is not a metal or glass cupboard door.  If I purchase a magic eye, do you know if this will work?  I do have additional sky boxes upstairs.  I'm hoping someone can help before I go down the route of purchasing the magic Eye.

A magic eye will not work with a Sky Q box.

If your remote is a bluetooth one that is should still be able to work the box.

@WinchTrish all SKy remotes for some time have been bluetooth so I am guessing your current remote is not properly paired and working in Infrared mode.

My main box, although not in a cupboard is behind all my other equipment and out of line of sight and works perfectly - my Old SKY + box in the same position needed an IR repeaeter similar to the magic eye to work

I actually did an experiment with my bluetooth remote and was able to use it outiside the rear of my house when my Tv is in the front of my front room with 2 walls in between.

If you need to reset your remote press 7 & 9 together intil it blinks 4 times them press 1 & 3 together to pair with your box. You will need to find the code for your TV again.

Re: Sky Q and magic eye

Is yours a Bluetooth controller?  Once paired, mine worked through the door but the normal Sky Controller won't.

@Broadway1514

If the remote handset has a microphone button then it's a Bluetooth model, and will work within range when properly paired.  Without that button it's infrared only and needs line of sight to the box.
