I read the link and have to say it's all Greek to me.

I have a better idea though. I've just bought 4 of the new Apple Airtags. I've attached one to each of the wildest claims so I can track where they lead to - hopefully to uncover a bigger plot.

I've also attached an Airtag to one of the key words that the audio dropped out - so I can track where Sky is taking these vital missing words.

The trouble is, these Airtags are expensive at £25 each. So if you could all help fund this important research by sending me money then we'd all benefit.

I have a hunch North Korea is involved in retaliation for Sky broadcasting Team America.

Your donations will help me uncover it all.

@Perfectionist+dur I agree £100.0 for tracking 4 WARs (wild **bleep** rumours) is a bit steep. Sounds like your being scammed. But scamming the good folks here in return to pay for it is really a double whammy for those already paying for the drop outs. And,  NK was behind the big Sony hack in 2014 and targeted the UK's Mammoth Screen in 2015. But, nothing about Sky 😉

@Invisiblename I'm not suggesting a conspiracy 🙄. Some days it just feels like it cuts out on critical words either forcing you to rewind or making your programme harder to follow.

@SoupDragon57 Never let the facts get in the way of a good story. And i think you are right. On my last post the drop outs got in the way of a critical word and replaced it with a silent **bleep**

Ironically I watched Tenet in UHD HDR which is a big download and I lost so many key words it ruined the immersion of a good film. Yet some days its almost perfect. Don't try to work out why, its even more confusing than the paradoxes in Tenet

Damned if you do, damned if you dont

This thread is now 171 pages and was started 5 months ago. Other threads on the same issue date back almost a year yet Sky still have no fix and don't even seem willing to accept the sound dropouts is an issue.

This means Sky do not take the issue seriously or it is such a massive fundamental flaw in the Q system that they are either unable to fix it with a software update (hardware issue) or just don't know how to fix it.

Some acknowledgement from Sky about this would be appreciated.

They have accepted it as an issue. They just don't communicate that to all members of customer-facing staff. They also aren't going to openly admit to a flaw in their flagship product as it would clearly impact on future sales.

As customers, we are currently awaiting the arrival of the Q160 software update which is apparently designed specifically to target the problem in V3 Q boxes.

We have no idea as yet if Q160 will be the solution.

All we can do is wait. Or call Sky and cancel your contract without penalty if you are sick of waiting.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

So I got sky q today, previously sky +.

Been watching for 30 min and the sound dropouts make watching TV horrific.

so I google "sound dropouts sky q" and find this thread. Clearly an issue.

without going through all 171 pages, does anybody have a quick rundown of what I can do?

or am I waiting for version 160? That seems to be the "answer"

@aliriddle

Sadly there really is nothing you can do at all. Other than wait for Sky to fix it - hopefully with Q160 (but nobody has actually confirmed that).

There is no "answer". You can't do anything other than wait for Q160 like the rest of us. It might fix it, it might not. We have no idea. Many of us are past caring and have already cancelled. You have the right to do so too.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

The people I know that don't have an issue all have the q connected directly to the tv not through an amp.  For me this works with the optical only going to my sound system. As I say works for me but maybe not for all.

Utd V Leister. Drops are hands down the worse since joining a few months ago. Every few min and sometimes every few seconds. PITA.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

Just to reiterate

Quote: As I say works for me but maybe not for all. (My last sentence)

If it worked for me, which it has for 3 months without a single drop out, then it might just work for someone else.

I was merely offering a suggestion.

Fingers crossed for a definitive fix!🤞🏻

Watched half hour of a footy match at a friends house at the weekend, in UHD format. He has a box 32B206 which I think is a V2 box running Q150. I didn't notice any drop outs for him while I was there.
