Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

Suffering badly with sound dropouts today (have the Q box with the separate power supply). Happening on live TV and recordings, every 22 seconds. Will reboot box overnight - really annoying.

@John+Hazeldene @I believe that's a version 2 box guess Q15 hasnt fixed it.

Suffering the sound drop-outs too. LG TV & Sonos Arc. Only seems to happen on recorded Sky Q content. Apple TV or streamed TV works fine. Sounds like I need to hope Q160 update will sort it. On the verge of cancelling anyway following 2 10% price hikes since March!?!?!

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

@Stuvennn pretty sure that hardware is a V3 box?

It's really concerning how quiet Q160 has gone... pretty much convinced they have no idea how to fix this now

@tommyhoops you wont get a confirmed date for Q160 and I think the lack of forthcoming information probably only adds to the anxiety. My suggestion is to try and sit tight and wait it out.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

@Stuvennn the last part wasn't really aimed at you. Was just making a point that the box you mentioned is probably actually a V3.

As for sitting tight...I've done that for over a year now, so you'll have to forgive my frustration when sky talk about eagerly testing software and then go mute again...

I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt with Q160. If that doesn't work I'm off, I've already agreed this with them.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

What with the incessant hard drive chatter, random black-screen video dropouts and constant sound glitches, the improved Sky Q experience  I was hoping for six months ago when I upgraded has not materialised. SWMBO Is not happy...

One will be the annual price rise. The other will be the price increase you agreed to when you took an 18-month promotional price on certain parts of your packages. It shouldn't have come as a surprise, or got your back up. All you need to do is call up and get a new deal for another 18 months.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

So having not heard anything for 8 days since I first referred this to Sky, they have now insisted on a engineer visit tomorrow to 'resolve on site'

Realistically is anything going to change as I need to take time off work to be home.

Anyone had a successful box swap?

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

Yes I did. Had no issues at all since swapping both boxes. The engineer tried to blame hdmi cables, proximity of the main and mini box etc, but I now have an identical setup to when the mini box was dropping out badly and it works fine, I just have different boxes (with old software).

What dp you mean with Old Software?

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

I think current software is version 150xxxxx. My main box is 130xxx, the mini is 140xxx.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

New or replacement Q boxes will be kept in store and will have the software version applied at build time. Only when they're deployed to customers and connected up will they then update the software to the current version.

I really wouldn't waste a day off work if I were you.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

Could we have out of courtesy,  an update from kei the sky employee, moderator of these threads as to where we now are as regards a solution to these sound dropouts, a little progress report, anything please, even letting us know when the next update might be due. Surely it’s the very least you can do.

kei, being silent over these issues loudly resonates the fact that sky haven’t a clue how to fix things, and are waiting for the next box to remedy the situation.

for everyone else on this forum, please don’t reply if you’re going to make excuses for sky and their woefully inadequate product.

come on kei
