Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
We've had the issue since we were installed last September. It's usually not too bad but watching a recorded movie tonight and getting audio drops every 2 minutes or so.

@Perfectionist+dur I'll keep you posted. You can't make this up. The person I spoke to then asked if I wouldn't mind scoring them 9s or 10s when I get the text asking about customer feedback. I said but one of those questions is "how likely are you to refer a friend to sky". I said I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy.

Good luck! I think a lot depends on who you speak to. Others on this thread have been able to end their contract early without penalty, others like myself have negotiated a discount on monthly subs until it's fixed, others have struggled to get them to agree to anything other than another pointless box swap.

@Anonymous
Hahaha!
Hey, we need to stay sane here and seeing the humour in all of this is a good thing! It's hell outside with lockdown and hell inside with tempers fraying over the slightest thing.
Okay, these sound dropouts are really really very very very annoying. But I think that in Sky Towers they've got the message, they can't hide it and they are finally admitting they are fixing it (we hope).
What would make life better is if they stopped suggesting silly "try this" fixes raising expectations and sending out engineers to spread false hope.
There's a vaccine out there to help save lives. Sky needs a technical vaccine to save our sanity!!!
Sky's problem HAS to be the simpler of the two!!!!

Agreed. If they could just acknowledge it and keep us informed it would be bearable.

@dkhhhhhhh and everyone else, this is becoming very hard work.
Sjy have ALREADY acknowledged this issue, are ALREADY working on it and have invited forum members to participated in assisting with a fix.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
@igmack it’s because they have no intention of fixing the problem until they decide to release a new box, they know it would coat a fortune to recall their investment.
in the meantime they will Carry on flogging and persuading people to upgrade to this so called premium product until watchdog or rip off Britain get enough calls and emails to investigate. In the meantime loyal customers will continue to be kicked in the teeth.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
Sorry, did I read your post correctly? Sky are inviting forum members to participate in a fix? Where did that come from? How could we participate in a fix? That doesn't make sense.
Sky has a powerhouse of tech. If they are aware of the problem (as they say thet are) then why would they need "participation of forum members?"
Their testing facilities would far exceed a few hundred forum members giving them a hand.
Where did you read that?

A number of forum members in this thread were invited to take part - by invite only. I wasn't one of them

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
Wow! I wasn't aware of that. I guess that's good news? Or is if a pacifier?
I'd love to know the selection criteria.
Hey, I guess any activity is progress.
I remain optimistic.

It's somewhere deep in this thread and those selected have posted that they have been contacted. I'm not sure how far it goes, people have had a questionnaire and then several calls from engineers. That's just from reading the comments though - like I said, I wasn't a chosen one...I remain in hope of a fix, somewhere at somepoint whilst still suffering from the issue.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
@Tonymarcus this was the previous response when you made a comment that seemed to be made by a sky apologist.
this is a premium subscription service not a charity. Great they have acknowledged a problem but not to me, no to many other users in this forum. The message is unacceptably inconsistent and we get offered nothing in return for our patience for this sub-standard service. I phoned sky 2 days ago and the customer service representative denied all knowledge of this issued and book me a 3rd engineers visit. #getyourheadoutoftheclouds

@Perfectionist+dur I agree totally, can’t believe the sky apologists on here minimising the situation. Come on it’s been over 2 years!!

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
Same issue by the sound of it. (No pun intended). Started getting sound issues when just changed to q box. So whether intentional by sky or not it's definitely a box issue as my old HD+ didn't have the problem at all.
So I have, by experimenting got round the issue rather than solved it. A slight tweak in my set up has got rid of the sound drop outs. I'd be interested to know if the issue is limited to set ups with amp's or soundbars which is what I suspect?
