Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
@warren-c I'm annoyed rather than furious, sound is fundamental, it's a huge part of the experience so it's concerning if this isn't being recognised as an issue within Sky. My bigger issue is I'm not sure what the best alternative is. Come on Sky, stop pushing the innovation, fix the basics first please. Very disappointing
Well said the attitude shown by sky over this and other problems they refuse to acknowledge has lead to the losses reported by @CyberFriday
come on sky pull your finger out, when watchdog take this issue up your reputation will take years to recover with multi million pound losses, virgin aren't much better but their network is ever expanding and they now show sky sports and movies along with their own sports channels with much better internet speeds. Sky have taken us for granted far too long, customers now have better and cheaper alternatives.
address This sound issue now, apologise and compensate your loyal customers

I have had an engineer visit today . We connected sky box direct to sound bar and not through the LG tv . Sound cut out issues cured .

That is the preferred connection method anyway - I found going via LG TV (and eARC to amp) problematic for lipsync.
But I think it's a bit early to say it's cured - if it is the v3/software issue then it may reoccur. But great if it doesn't 🙂

Mine is optic cable to my sound bar . If you haven't done already , try a new optic cable straight from the sky box to sound bar .
One test we did was to try the system through the tv speakers only , and if no cut out issues it is unlikely to be the sky box but external issues .

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
@James+Py I hope it does work, but myself and many others have tried that combination and many other configurations, it might be ok for a short while but the dropouts return.
consensus of opinion is that it is the boxes, as process of elimination rules most other possibilities out, also after switching to virgin, bt, etc, on the same quipment the dropouts have gone entirely.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
Ironically I was running it through Virgin WiFi until last week and it was playing up then . It seems it was either a poor optic connection originally or simply going direct from Sky box to sound bar .

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
I have tried everything, I've changed my hdmi cable for expensive one non sky from sky to amp , sound drop outs , direct to my Panasonic oled from sky , sound drop outs.
I also changed my amp for a new one not because of my issues but still get the same sound drop outs , the problem is with sky hardware and don't believe this will be sorted with a software update . The only fix is a new box version , just wished I had read this thread before I upgraded from my version 1 box .

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
Oh mate, I really hate to dampen your enthusiasm - but you now have the same rush of optimism that I had 2 weeks ago (and everyone on this thread has had at some time) when I had cracked it after having tried everything and every permutation known to man to get rid of those audio dropouts. I succeeded for 3 days. I was euphoric.
Then they crept back again.
I'm really really hoping that, in your case, it is solved.
But I doubt it very much. They will come back. The problem resides IN the box - not outside of it. You've temporarily tricked it. Temporarily.
Please keep the thread up to speed though - any ray of hope is always welcome.

I feel your pain , I think yeah iam the boss and I've solved it , there's nothing wrong with our TVs , amps , cables it's the nightmare version 3 box and nothing will solve this I believe apart from bringing out version 1 boxes again lol

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)
I can join that club. Thought I had solved the issue and then last night is was worse than ever. I actually got through to a helpful sky representative today who said straight away it's a known fault to sky who are working on a fix. There was limited information available to her on the phone, but I agree no one but sky can fix the issue. I've asked for a substantial discount until it's fixed or asked to leave without penalty as they are not providing the service I signed up to. I'm now waiting a follow up call from a sky manager tomorrow to find out which one it is. Will keep you all posted.

Like everyone here, I am staggered that this is still unresolved after all this time. If anything, my issue is getting worse.
