Re: Glass as a second TV?

@TheHeroicHulk thats really down to the individual providers. If Sky are marketing this as a traditional dish & set top box replacement, then offer substandard quality (like Sky Go or those you mentioned) then it will really fall on its backside.

Re: Glass as a second TV?

I too am interested in this, but would we still have to pay the multiroom subscription?

Re: Glass as a second TV?

I agree with 12rounds. They've really missed a trick there. I am just about to set up sky in a new room. I saw this advertised and thought oh, that's good I'll get this instead of a new TV and Q mini. I was hoping you would be able to link it in so you could watch all your recordings from Q box on it.

I was saddened it won't just be compatible with current setups.

Re: Glass as a second TV?

you can get Sky Glass for your bedroom and then order a puck to connect for any other tv in the home that will convert it into a sky glass from what i can assume after speaking to sky chat.

Pucks work similiary to having a Q mini for multiroom and comes with addtional remote control. See image below

@VaperMykeWhat I don't know is if the controller with the Puck can turn on off the TV and change the inputs and volume. We tend not to use the TV controller for anything with the one connected to the Q mini box.

I assume turning TV in/off and volume controls will be supported with the Sky pucks.  However, there doesn't appear to be an input switcher button on the remote

Re: Glass as a second TV?

Does anyone know how the signal from the main TV will be pushed to the pucks? I currently have Sky Q with 3 minis but in one room it drops the signal to the mini quite often despite numerous engineer visits and hours of research and trial and error. I suspect the pucks will be served by a mesh network but can't find any solid info on this. If this is going to be a more reliable and maybe a better mesh system I'll probably go for it and get the 43" TV for a bedroom and feed the pucks to my other TVs.

Re: Glass as a second TV?

This is exactly what will make me leave sky after 20 years.. products are great but the whole engagement is flawed, again Sky gets it wrong. They have it wrong with Sky q. I am paying £100 a month for the service. I shouldn't be restricted by the device I choose...that's the idea of streaming apps.

My understading is that the pucks will need to be on the same home network to check that it is in the same house as the main Sky Glass TV, but that the streams will be retrieved directly and not relayed through the Sky Glass TV.

@wejbdiuerw678  My understanding it's all done over wifi with all devices connected to the same network there's no mesh system in glass

Re: Glass as a second TV?

Thanks for that, I would imagine if they stream directly they would be more reliable.

Agree,  just about to buy a new TV for the bedroom ( which currently has a Sky Q mini box attached ) and thought this would be great...   Oh Well. :0(

Re: Glass as a second TV?

I'm hoping the pucks will be compatible with mini/existing q.

Was just about to purchase my fourth mini, but will hang off for now. I'd rather stream in 4k than 1080p.

Failing that I'll just wait for the minis to drop in price on eBay and give someone else a return rather than Comcast unless they plan to start launching satellites and beam super fast broadband to my existing satellite dish 🤪 .....if that's even possible (ala Musk)
