Was just about to purchase my fourth mini, but will hang off for now. I'd rather stream in 4k than 1080p.
Failing that I'll just wait for the minis to drop in price on eBay and give someone else a return rather than Comcast unless they plan to start launching satellites and beam super fast broadband to my existing satellite dish 🤪 .....if that's even possible (ala Musk)
As mentioned in literally every thread, you cant have Sky Q & Sky Glass and you have to have Sky Glass to get a Puck.

Re: Glass as a second TV?
@DarrenRB Glass is not compatible with Q you can't have both.
If you buy a stolen mini box on ebay you have bought a door stop as they belong to Sky and can/will be disabled by Sky.

No, they are not. Having a Glass subscription at an address means not having either Sky+ or Sky Q

Any Mini box on eBay is in the process of being stolen from Sky.

Re: Glass as a second TV?
Is that a certainty?
I am taking about the pucks delivered by WiFi and not the glass btw. I'm also hoping it's not limited to just 4 so I can beam to all 10 rooms 😁

Re: Glass as a second TV?
@DarrenRB Yes it's certain glass won't work with q and a q subscription will automatically be cancelled if you take out glass

Re: Glass as a second TV?
100%. Its Glass OR Q and all your Q boxes will stop working when you take Glass.
With Glass you can have up to 3 tvs & 6 pucks so that totals 9 different rooms/setups.
Oh and you MUST have at least one Glass TV before you can buy pucks.

Re: Glass as a second TV?
As the content of glass is streamed and thus not entirely live but at best near live, do you need a TV licence if you only use glass and other streaming services?
Anyone know about other streaming services working with Glass? The blurb seems to imply those not bought through sky won't work but who would be mad enough to buy Amazon prime TV only from sky rather than full prone with free deliveries from Amazon?

Re: Glass as a second TV?
A TV Licence is a legal permission to install or use television receiving equipment to watch or record television programmes as they are being shown on TV or live on an online TV service, and to download or watch BBC programmes on demand.
@landofmiles TV license still required. The fact that there is a signal delay on streaming services does not get you off on a technicality I'm afraid.

Technically you could use Sky Glass in a way to avoid needing a licence but do you want to chance being the test case in court?

Re: Glass as a second TV?
They should really give an option to disable live TV completely and avoid paying for the awful BBC. It is the one thing that would push me to cancelling my complete Sky Q service and moving to other streaming options throughout. I am getting pretty close now.
Sky Q is horribly temperamental and unreliable in a multi room setup especially when you disable WiFi and rely on ethernet (which should be more reliable). Getting a bit annoyed with 3 reboots a week and still an unreliable service.

Re: Glass as a second TV?
To be honest would go with the test case of necessary (shall research the relevant law further), it's more the principle than the cost that I object to.
Would have thought that it would be very smart business for Sky to launch a TV licence avoiding service.

Re: Glass as a second TV?
If the BBC's service is as valuable as they say it is they should simply go to a subscription model like other channels/services. People would have no problem paying for it then.
One BBC account, access to all BBC services, £13.25 a month.

They would need to carry no BBC content at all, and as access to Public Service Broadcasting is enshrined in all UK media law, the legal situation would be somewhat problematic.

Re: Glass as a second TV?
There is no requirement to carry public service broadcasting on a streaming service only on a UK regulated satellite service.
Do netflix and Amazon prime video have to carry UK public service broadcasters?

They are not UK based broadcasters regulated by ofcom so you're not comparing like for like 😞
