Sky have confirmed the F1 will be in HDR (as well as UHD) this season.
(EPL football has been in HDR for a while now)
Hopefully all the HLG issues that have plagued what Sky Italia has been broadcasting for past 3 seasons have been resolved unless they've decide to stick with "fake" HDR as a resolution.
One would hope they have tested it properly before Friday's launch 😔

what makes me a bit nervous about this is that Sky receive their broadcasts from FOM and apart from reading that they were testing HDR last year i've not heard anything about them broadcasting in HDR this year they may be keeping it quiet 😄

I also noticed The F1 Show is in UHD this year - was that the case last year too?
I thought only the world feed was UHD, and all Sky cameras were upscaled 1080p, although admittedly that was the case back when it first launched in 2017, i'm probably way behind!

Sky have also confirmed HDR will be available (on a closed forum)
However it doesn't necessarily stop the gremlins.
Deep sigh!

Firstly, Sky's implementation of HDR is sublime on my tv, thus if it isn’t good on any others then either look to the tv or it's settings as being incorrect.
Second, and again as stated, Sky are only responsible for their own f1 shows, not live races or practices. It is the FOM and they have yet to make an announcement...

Thanks,

I don't thing the FOM will be too fussed about Sky wanting the HDR format for it's next 22 races and one shown via FTA which definitely won't be in 4K nor HDR.

Hopefully doesnt go of hdr randomly like football sometimes does hadn't seen this happen for while ti last night

UHD and HDR for live sport does seem to be quite hit and miss. For instance last night the start of the Arsenal v Liverpool match wasnt shown in UHD...
I understand that Sky only have two UHD slots and I wonder if only one of these is HDR?

Hi @Grilly
There are now three UHD feeds and HDR can be used on them all
