We are certainly expecting a new set of customers coming here after finding their TV might not be set up properly or capable of a bright enough image with the HDR feed.

Did this answer not help you?

Sky is allready confusing things in one place it says HD in another it says UHD and in another UHD/HDR.

Re: F1 uhd hdr

Called Sky yesterday to upgrade my 2tb box to a hdr compatible one, paying the £50 fee. Arrived, switched with DPD and set up, only to find they had sent me the exact same hardware model that I had before. Called them up to be told by the sky q upgrade team that it was hdr compatible despite me knowing that wasn't true and passed to technical help. They agreed that it isn't hdr version but not sure how to order correct one, so I'm currently waiting for them to call back once they have spoken to their manager who is I'm a meeting.

Unfortunately, some aspects of stock control could be improved and your experience is not unique - there were quite a few cases when the 2TB HDR boxes became available again. They did say they had improved things but clearly some are still getting through

I don't think the processes surrounding the different types of boxes are as robust as they should be

BTW I think a problem you may now face is that their system may think you have a HDR box, thus making it difficult to trigger the correct replacement

Re: F1 uhd hdr

Turns out ironically that it's because I'm still on one of the old packages with the free legacy F1. Apparently they have no way of specifying which box you get. If your are on the package they automatically send out the old box. I'd have to change to a new signature plan and lose my F1.

I have no specific knowledge but I have a feeling their systems are manual around the HDR boxes (i.e. can specify a 2TB but have to annotate the requirement for HDR)

The response you have got sounds to me more like, after having made an error, they are trying to cover their tracks and rather than admiting a fault, are using it as an excuse to get you transfer onto Signature  - but that is just speculation on my part

Re: F1 uhd hdr

To be fair on the lady that told me that, she was in technical support after someone in the sky q upgrades team fobbed me off on her. She then spoke to her manager, who told her this. I've asked her to escalate the matter as a complaint, so hopefully, they will be able to sort something out for me.

Re: F1 uhd hdr

So the F3 coverage looks excellent in HLG.

The only problem I can see is that the overlay graphics are too bright. Sky need to be grading on-screen graphics to SDR peak levels as per the broadcast standard, so a maximum of 75% luminance.  The REPLAY overlay graphic is particularly bright!

Re: F1 uhd hdr

It looks great but the blue sky is showing my dse lmao not skys fault. In the logo saying UHD it could do with saying HDR aswell, i had to look in my settings to make sure it was.

Re: F1 uhd hdr

Well this is interesting... My Samsung TV is from 2016, still going strong and still performs well, however I do suffer the drop in brightness with HDR football...

Currently watching Practice 1 on the F1 channel, in UHD HDR and the picture is very impressive, but way more important is the fact the brightness hasn't changed at all, still punchy and vivid! Have Sky sorted the issues? or is it due to a different carrier I wonder?

Whatever they've done I'm as happy as a pig in ****

Roll on Sunday!

Re: F1 uhd hdr

Also looks very nice on my LG OLED screen - I was expecting darkness, but it's a lovely picture.

I noticed that the official F1 feed had some odd blocks/patterns on the left side of the screen, but these disappeared after a few minutes (I guess it was a overlaid test pattern).
