Sorry @Adamf1977 , @TimmyBGood

I did suspect that might be the case .

Needless to say I don't know if there is any other way to get the Atmos demos to play on SKY Glass - as I say it is such a shame that the Youtube Apps only use 2.0 stereo

For anyone with a SKY Cinema Sub - Lord of Thr Rings Trilogy has very good Atmos tracks -  in fact I just started to download Fellowship of the Ring again to my SKY Q and within a few minutes there are a few good hits of the Subwoofer - I also really like   the Firework Dragon Scene - need to get a time code  for that (will update when I have downloaded enough of the film) -

Edit - it's around 18m mark- good use of all speakers but the SW hit is limited to a few brief moments (shorter than I remembered) - the SW hit I mentioned that is around the 4m - 5m mark is longer and more pronounced

I put on Taken on Disney+,  audio track is 5.1 but the bass on it is quite noticeable.  Volume had to be above 35 though.

@nigea99

This is the moment I was referring to that has a LOT of Bass in the original soundtrack-

Sauron imploding after his fingers are cut off-the white shockwave going out across the ranks of Elves and Men is a real low boom that shakes the room, well it did when I watched it on BluRay on a friend's 5.1 system a while ago, but like the UHD Disc I recently watched, the Sky Cinema version just does not rumble at all on my new Sky Glass.

Bass Boost is on, as is Virtual Surround, but this example, even though Sky says it's Atmos, is just lacking any low frequency kick.

I'm starting to think my SW is faulty in my unit, because nothing I play on the Sky Glass produces any real Bass.

I guess this is a problem as it is difficult to know what it should sound like & as I say, it is a shame that the 5.1 & atmos demos  that end up just as 2.0 on Youtube can't be used to test

I doubt visiting a SKY stall where they can demo SKY Glass would necessarily help

The reviews of SKY glass sound system seem good for a TV  but no TV or even many Sound bars won't come close to a dedicated AV amp and speakers & separate subwoofer that I am used to - so to my ears it is likely to be weak

What about using a 4k fire stick ?

U could play a test track in that I guess ?

Re: Epic subwoofer … sonic boom

Well Sky chatted to me about the Sound issues(lack of Bass generally and no LFE) AND the repeated daily disconnecting from internet when switching the Sky Glass on, having to unplug/restart both TV and Router to get connection again through Ethernet.
They asked for my serial number and MAC address and sent me a message saying that the technicians and engineers were aware of these issues affecting not just myself, but the next software update was imminent and would address these issues.

That was two weeks ago and my Sky Glass is still on QS002.08.0P.

Still disconnected when I switch it on, but not every day, and still no discernible Bass or LFE whilst watching ATMOS content.
The Sky guidelines to updating Software on a Sky Glass or Puck doesn't work and my TV just restarts with the same Software Version.
Getting a bit fed up with this as I've had the TV for a month now and it's NOT delivering the experience that Sky has advertised it would..

Re: Epic subwoofer … sonic boom

I went to a sky stall and asked for a demo of a 55" Glass and disapointingly the bass was negible. I changed the settings to up the bass, the bass boost and again nothing. I've already raised the issue with support, who've offered a replacement but I'd like somehow who's really happy with the bass on their glass to tell me what to expect before I do that

Re: Epic subwoofer … sonic boom

If you have the Atmos/UHD £5 pack there is a test clip you can play.

Search for - 'Sky glass showcase' and play this.

Any samples on youtube will not provide any reliable tests.

Edit - It is frustrating that not all users can access it but i assume its because its in Atmos and UHD

@Jayboy1990

 Well that was a disappointment and confirmation that my 55" Anthracite is not delivering Surround Sound or LFE through the Sub Woofer.

At both instances in this Sky Glass Demo where it says:

"stand by for Surround Sound"

and

"stand by for Sub Woofer",

nothing happened and the sound is still lacklustre.

So, so disappointing.

My TV is either faulty or the Sky Glass speakers are rubbish.

And now, as I write, my Sky Glass has frozen.

Third time in four days.

Done that thanks. So when the subwoofer mention happens what should I expect.

When its does the surround sound test, i get full room filling surround sound - I can hear the various areas filling with sound.

When the sub is being tested, i get a good enough bass sound for the tv and is acceptable. If you get nothing then there is an issue.

I could escalate your post but if it is decided that you need a replacement etc. they wouldnt be able to process this.

My recommendation is to contact sky.

Sky can be reached in the following ways;

From a Sky landline or mobile 150
or
From any other provider 0333 7591 018
When calling follow the guided instructions on the call and do not leave the call, just hang on until you eventually get answered. If you are sent a text message during the call and asked if you wish to leave the call answer with 'NO'.

The subwoofer should produce a 'Dooosh' sound @roeboy

@Jayboy1990

Replacement arriving on Monday, fingers crossed that it is just a faulty Sky Glass!

Re: Epic subwoofer … sonic boom

I think unless the volume is way up over half way it is pretty flat. Expected better really from the advertising.

Don't get much from the surround sound. Atmos I wouldn't know was supposed to be any different and bass is tame.
