Perhaps worth considering that playing music stations which don't have broadcast licences in Eire to customers (as opposed to domestic use) might risk other legal complications: maybe worth checking with IMRO.

Actually Mark No. I agree with @P-Tnov. Our contracts are with Sky and we pay Sky (quite a bit) not the channel owners. We shouldnt have to go searching for information about why our package is changing.

Your contract with Sky is clear that these channels weren't part of the package - https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/What-s-On/Changes-to-the-Sky-TV-guide-December-2020/m-p/3547209/highlig...

OK Oracle, so what channels do we actually pay for?? we pay more for our sky packages in Ireland compared to UK but we get a lot less. Even the VIP rewards for us are aimed at UK.
People here are just annoyed that in all the marketing crap we get sent from SKY each month they couldnt just let us know by sending us an email or something.

I assume you know what channels you get in your package. The ones you pay for are those that are not free to air. Pretty sure you'll find the free to air channels listed on sky.com or they're certainly freely available to find via a google search.

I pay for a full package and the amount of channels on it goes down and down each year. i havent had an updated contract with channel listings since Sky moved me onto the new package following a sky q upgrade (which was messed up several times). anways with the amount we pay for any changes to our guide should be notified to us directly. its called basic customer service.

If your package no longer gives you value for money the obvious thing to do is cancel.

It is surprising how many people don't seem to know what they're paying for. Every channel that has been removed in Ireland was free and not part of any Sky subscription package. If you only had Sky to listen to UK radio stations or music video channels than you've been throwing money down the drain.
Yes it's a shame that these channels have been removed in Ireland due to political decisions in the UK but they are still broadcasting and can be manually tuned back in.

People generally think everything 'on a Sky box' must be Sky.

@TimmyBGood Most people are with Sky along time and all these channels were advertised as part of the package, you'll find sky don't do that anymore in fact if you list the channels sky offer it's a very poor package compared to some of its rivals

Remember quite a few channels have gone from Pay-TV to Free-to-Air as well over the years, such as Dave, Yesterday, Really, Home, DMAX, The Box, Sky Arts, CNBC, Bloomberg.... I could go on....

Heads up - more channels are being removed in the coming weeks and these apply in both the UK and Ireland.....
5th January
mytv - Channel 190 (FTA)
Abu Dhabi TV - Channel 796 (FTA)
Record TV HD - Channel 792 (FTA)
6th January
Discovery Home and Health - Channel 178 (Sky Pack)
Discovery Shed - Channel 192 (Sky Pack)
Sky Cinema Five Star Movies - Channel 307 (Sky Cinema Pack) *
UCB Ireland (radio) - Channel 0214
* Was Sky Cinema Disney until 31st December - Sky Cinema Premiere +1 relaunches on Channel 312

Thanks to those who have provided information on this thread. What has yet to be answered is why Sky has not communicated with customers in any way - We are not customers of the individual stations, we are customers of Sky......good customer service would be to keep us informed.......pretty poor form...
