Why would it be reduced? All of those channels were free-to-air so didn't cost anything anyway?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreAs much as I'd like a reduction in my subscription, the contract between sky and me is clear.
According to my contract, these channels are non-subscription and available for free and may be available by manual tuning
The contract states
more than 200 non-subscription TV
and radio channels on digital satellite including Sky News, Challenge, PICK TV, Film4, Bliss, Scuzz, CNN
International, Bloomberg and The Community Channel. The radio channels include: Absolute • Gold • XFM
• Classic FM • Planet Rock • Heart • talkSPORT • RTÉ Radio 1 • 2 FM • Lyric FM • Radio na Gaeltachta. These
channels are not offered by Sky and their availability is outside Sky’s control. Sky will not be liable if they or
their content is withdrawn or changed. Your box may need manual tuning to receive some free channels

@Anonymous
@ . Yep they can still be got. I know it's a pain going every time , to settings manual tuning, but u can still get them. So I'm happy. See these were always fta channels in the beginning, nothing to do with sky

Does this not lead to any contract we have with sky , null and void as these channels were part of the package signed up for ?

The channels are Free To Air and not part of your subscription, read the Terms & Conditions, sky are covered as mentioned within this thread

I was only asking the question not stating a fact. But thank you for the clarification. I didn't have time to read through twelve pages of comments

Aren't some elf those channels free to air anyway, so they can still be picked up in Ireland? Just not on the EPG?
Makes a free sat set up all the more appealing!?

All disappeared with zero communication with customers....All I want for Christmas is music!!!...Very disappointing that Sky did not communicate with people...any remedies planned to increase our service beyond MTV and radio stations we can pick up on any FM radio anyway....

You need to complain to the channels, not Sky. They weren't part of your subscription.

What's the point of having sky basic entertainment package. Removing the music channels and not having itv channels on the main menu without having to go to manual tuning section ridiculous. Can't wait to leave sky, 40 euro a month poor value

At the risk of repeating much of the above: if channels aren't licenced for broadcast in ROI then they can't appear in the EPG there, and the music channels were withdrawn by their owners, not removed by Sky.
