Cancelled SkySports

I cancelled Sky Sports from 12 August. An adjusted amount was charged for the period 1 to 31 August . My package no longer shows Sky Sports included. However in the My Sky app the forthcoming bill for the period - 1 to 30 September is still showing the full charge for Sky Sports. My payment is taken on the first of the month. Is this a mistake which I should contact Sky about ? Or will it adjust itself before the next direct debit is taken? Any advice appreciated

If Sky Sports was removed from your account on 12th August then the bill for the period 1st September should not be showing it, does the bill for the month after that show it as well ?

Is 12th August the date you gave notice to cancel? If so, you'll be billed for it as normal right up the date the service ends, 31 days, from then. The overpayment from 13 September, would normally be refunded automatically.

@giropay  This will need a call to sky I would imagine as the cancellation doesn't appear to have gone through from sky's end

Re: Cancelled SkySports

I cancelled Sky Cricket - after the usual 'you can't be serious' - and I was told that my future online billing would remain the same until the 31 days has elapsed. Is this the new norm, and why doesn't Sky email confirmation of the cancellation?

Yes, that's correct.

Re: Cancelled SkySports

If the cancellatiuon doesnt happen, then what proof do I have that I actually made a cancellationcall? This is a 'mutual variation' of a contract and Sky should provide written confirmation that it has accepted the Notice given - or doesn't Sky comply with normal contract law?

Calls to Sky are usually recorded, so you would ask for the call recording to be reviewed. However, in my experience Sky confirm subscription changes by email.

@Hengus  When did you cancel and have you checked your spam folders

written confirmation should be sent so if you haven't received anything within 24 hours of cancellation you will need to contact Sky again to confirm the request was actually processed

providing of course your not within an 18 month minimum term for cricket as if you are Sky are under no obligation to allow you to cancel during a minimum term

Re: Cancelled SkySports

OK. How soon does Future Bills get changed?  It is updated immediately when a new package is added.

Re: Cancelled SkySports

Twenty years on, and talking to Sky is as difficult as it has always been.

Billing continues as normal during your notice period (as though you hadn't cancelled). I wouldn't expect the future bills section of your online account to be updated until the end of your notice period.
