Thanks everyone. I phoned Sky in the end. The agent I spoke to was helpful - acknowledged and apologised for the mistake and raised a 'ticket' for a resolution within 72 hours. I'll see how it goes. Downside :: Getting through the automated phone system  was a pain and I had to give my security details twice.

They seem to manage to update Future Bills immediately when a package is added so I would expect the same when notice is given of a package deletion - or, at the very least, a confirmatory email acknowledging that a change has been made.  I have just put the phone down after another 20 minute conversation: when I said that I wanted to make a complaint, I was asked to hold for a moment. The email that I was after came through almost immediately. It really doesnt need to be this much of a struggle. Thanks for the advice.
