Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreHi @Frank+Don there are technical reasons for the number of mini boxes in use at the same time
If you have the original 1TB non UHD box then you can only use one mini for SKY at the same time as the Main box & for all other Main boxes a max of 2 miniboxes for SKY (as well as the main).
Switching off the main box does not increase the number of minis it can support
You may be able to use more for APPs like Netflix

That's how the system was designed.

Why sell boxes if you can't watch them at the same time ?

It is best not to keep moving mini boxes from room to room thus people obtain additional boxes for rooms that they may use from time to time
( A minor point they are not sold, as such, as SKY always own them - the charge is an admin fee for set up and carriage etc)

Q boxes are loaned, not sold. The system limit has been there since the release of Q in 2016, but it's probably still not widely known about.
