Verify account

Long term Sky customer, currently have Sky Q. I received an email from Sky today, appears a genuine email, saying I need to verify my account and to either click the link or log into Sky. Tried both but no mention of verifaication process to be seen any where.

i did try the virtual help assistant but that only made the matter more confusing. Anyone else received this email ? Any information on if this is necessary or how to go about it would be appreciated.

thanks

Hi @Artel

Does the email address you by name, and not something like Dear customer?

@Artel

It might be from Sky but at present there doesn't appear to be any reason to take any action.

Re: Verify account

I have had this email too saying I recently set up a SkyID but had the same one for years, I thought it seemed a bit strange so I havent done it.

Re: Verify account

I have also received a similar email - but when I click the link, it allows me to login to the Sky website - but then nothing - no verification nothing??

I have been an active sky member for over 3 years - on the same email address - so again - not sure why I am getting this:

Hi <has my real name>,

You’ve previously set up a Sky iD with us. We’ve introduced a new verification step to help keep your account secure, and we now need you to confirm your details.

Verifying your email protects your account and makes it easy to recover if you ever forget your password. It only takes a moment.

Your Sky team

Clicking the button just takes me to the standard Sky login page - where I login and nothing more happens. It does not appear to a spam or phising email - the link for the Verify button is https://t.newsletter.contact.sky/r/?id=h3f377xxxx,3377xxxx,4a63xxxx
(I have replaced some of the digits with xxxx just in case it is a personal link).

I clicked the email yesterday afternoon and then I got another email this morning - suggesting that yesterday's email link did not verify my account.

Verify account

I have been asked to verify my Sky account,  I am not sure if the email is genuine so haven't used the link.    After logging on to my Sky I cannot find anywhere to verify account.  How do I do this,  without using the link in the email.

Re: Verify account

Hey

Yes I get the exact same as you, logs me in via the Sky page but then asks for nothing more, its a weird one. Assume as we are logging in fine then nothing further needed, they seem to just keep sending the same email every day..

@Rhiski @Trumpy

All we can say for sure at present is that these emails are from Sky.

Re: Verify account

I've had three of these emails in the last week.  Always the same and takes you to what appears to be a genuine sky page -

Re: Verify account

Same just now - 'Action needed on your account' - Sky have introduced a new verification steo to help keep your account secure we now need you to confirm your details... yeah right no, I ain't clicking any link but it also recommends me to log in to Sky.com

so I do .. and there's zero about anything anywhere relating the information that was in that email and infact, a search for 'verify' / 'verification' just brought me to this community page.

If it's essential, I'm sure Sky will have to follow it up or improve their website or I eventually fail to be able to access my account, in which case they'll have to figure something out at that point.

I'm not pushing this nor driving it, it's coming from Sky, so they can put the work in.

I'm certainly not clicking any links within an email

Re: Verify account

Exactly the same with me. Clicked link, no further link and sky chat frustratingly useless. Have given up!

Re: Verify account

I have had the same email, but not clicked on the link, logged onto Sky via the website and this is the only thing I can find about this issue.  Chatbot is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard and there is no phishing email address to forward the email onto for checking.  Sky needs to state on here whether these are genuine or not.

@mpeat

Apparently this email is to do with the email address that you have registered with Sky so it is basically asking you to make sure it is up to date and if needs be change it to an updated one.
