I have has exactly the same problem. I have had several emails now and evaentually decided to click on the link as the sky email address seemed genuine. As with others it took me to my login and then the home page. The same when I used the help function - no use at all as was the virtualk assistant. Sky needs to sort this out
The email isn't very clear at all but what it actually wants is that your email address you have on your Sky account is both up to date and is not a Sky one.

So how do you confirm that the email address is correct. i followed the link, wenr to account details and it was correct, So used the option to change it, went in and then saved the current email. Couldnt see any other way to verify it!

If you email address is not a Sky one and it is up to date then you do not need to do anything.
