It surprised me too - normally these free trials from Sky with third parties are one-and-done and can't be used if you have used the trial previously.

Re: VIP Athletic

Here's my update

I followed the advice by users on here found my account number rang the telephone number and it took a little while but it's all cancelled now . I'm very appreciative of all the info and help you guys it's just a shame Sky themselves can't do it and it's left to us to figure out how. This will be mentioned in my call to negotiate a be contract

It was never going to be something Sky could cancel for anyone, the fact that the NYT and The Athletic didn't know how to cancel is down to them.

Bookmark @MightyMoz s post on the previous page and also https://help.nytimes.com/115015385887-Contact-The-New-York-Times to cancel down the line. Once you've signed up I'd give it a week and then ask them to set it to cancel at the end of the year myself.

Hi all,

I noticed there was some confusion around this, so I've checked with the Sky VIP team and wanted to share some helpful information:

  • You won't be charged at the end of your subscription. Your access does not automatically renew, and no payment details are collected.
  • There is no option to cancel the subscription itself, however, if you no longer wish to use The Athletic, you can delete your account by visiting nytimes.com/account and selecting "Delete Account".
  • Once your current access ends, you can claim another year's subscription to The Athletic through the Sky VIP section of the My Sky app.

I hope this helps clear things up!

I'll mark this post as the answer, so as many people see this update as possible.

Re: VIP Athletic

Thanks for that reply

but... The cancel option doesn't appear on the app for the NY times and The Athletic

at no point does it say in the terms and conditions that it doesn't collect that info and charge at the dnd of the offer

perhaps a codicil on the VIP page for the offer could make this more clear.

but I thank you so much for providing the answer .
