Although doing so can lead to miscommunication on sky's part with sky starting the notice period too early leaving you open to early termination charges
so be mindful if you go down this route

Hi,that's just the kind of thing I was making sure I wouldn't fall into..that's why I wanted the 31 days exactly so there 'Should be' 🤫 no confusions.

@worcesterman47 I left last year and was going to be out of the country 31 days before and gave notice to Sky a long time before the 31 days, giving notice for the exact date my contract finished. I had no problems at all and cancellation was completed correctly (I did make sure I spoke to customer services in the UK). Not missing Sky at all and saving a fortune in the process.

thats why you/ we need to give people the choice not promote a single route just because it worked for yourself as it may not for others

@SKY1992bf But it should if Sky are doing their job correctly. I had full e-mail confirmation, leaving it to exactly 31 days is open to the exactly the same problems you elude to in giving advance notice. The contract you are tied into says a minimum of 31 days not exactly 31 days.

@Roger17 yes I agree it should be, but then again there's the chance of mis communication and the agent initiating cancellation there and then leaving the customer out of pocket
always best to be cautious than not and give customers the choice has to which route the customer wish to take
giving customers the knowledge of the possibilities of each outcome is after all what the community is about

@SKY1992bf I also think leaving it to the exact date can lead to confusion resulting in the contract not being cancelled on time and the customer incurring extra charges. I will leave at that as I think we disagree on this one.

Thank you all for your input...I will bear in mind that something could go wrong...but I guess I will soon find out 🙂...Thanks again

@Roger17 but the amount of early termination fees is going to be considerable less giving the exact date then giving it x amount time earlier if it did go wrong

@SKY1992bf Last comment on this if Sky do thier job correctly as they did with me there would be no early termination fee. As long as you get a confirmation e-mail you will have no problems, if you dont assume they haven't processedit and get back to them that is the same if you contct them before, on 31 days or after.
You have your view I have mine and I dont intend to change it or pass it on to other people who ask, just as you will pass on your view. Have a nice day.

@SKY1992bf Should read and will continue to pass on my view.
