Trying to cancel my Sky TV package. They make it impossible
They leave you on a chat queue that times out...over and over again. They never answer.........
You are on a call to UK from Ireland for an hour and then the lines drops. OR you get through and its the Scottish branch and they say "Need to transfer you to the Irish team" (Who seem to never actually be in work)
They are charging me DOUBLE my agreed contract amount now that the year has passed. I WANT OUT....
CONTACT ME AND REMOVE MY SKY TV PACKAGE AT ONCE

Sky won't contact you in response to a forum post.

Re: Trying to cancel my Sky TV package. They make it impossible
Sky won't contact you. They won't know who you are through your Community log-in name.
To cancel all your TV subscription, if you’re out of contract you’ll need to give Sky the required 31 days notice. The latest T’s and C’s explicitly state you can’t cancel when still in a minimum term deal unless Sky agree. If they agree you’ll have to pay the remainder of your discounted term.
Select ‘Need more help’ at the bottom of the following link which will lead to contact details.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/cancel-sky-tv#contact-leave
(Make sure the flag in the bottom right corner is the correct one ie; UK or ROI).
UK customer ~ The link may include an email link and also a Message Us option (which is normally available between 9am and 7.30pm).
ROI customer ~ it’s only by calling Sky Ireland or writing in.
If you successfully cancel you should receive an acknowledgment email from Sky.
If you are cancelling Sky Q, return packaging will be sent out near the end of your notice period. Obtain proof of posting and keep it safe and indefinitely.

Re: Trying to cancel my Sky TV package. They make it impossible
Tried everything you have suggested to no avail as I can never actually get in. Honestly its a farce. Ill just phone the banks and submit chargeback and cancel the 13 month direct debit. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Re: Trying to cancel my Sky TV package. They make it impossible
Very unwise. Cancelling your payment method will increase your problems. Sky services will be restricted, late payment fees will be added, you won't be able to speak to Sky, you definitely won't be able to cancel and continued non payment will result in Sky passing the debt to a Debt Recovery company which may ultimately affect your credit score.

As @Daniel0210 posted, that will just make things more difficult. You've mentioned both Ireland and the UK. Where is your account domiciled? And where are you trying to contact Sky from?

Re: Trying to cancel my Sky TV package. They make it impossible
Same for me. I am totally frustrated. I have tried ringing and. on a similar chat text you mentioned. I am since the 27/2/25 midday to now Mon 3/2/2025 trying. On Friday I just cancelled my direct debit and told them to cancel my my sky. Sounds simple they are still sending text and apologising for not dealing with it, and intend texting me again tomorrow . Probably to get my name etc. again. Similar happened to me a couple of years ago with WiFi. I wonder can they be stopped from inflicting this misery on us

Very unwise. Doing that is going to cause you additional problems. Your services will be restricted, you won't be able to call Sky, you still can't cancel, late payment fees will be added and eventually Sky will involved a debt recovery company.

Re: Trying to cancel my Sky TV package. They make it impossible
Same here, I've been trying for over a month to cance. I've now cancelled mt DD and they can take me to court if they want to, at least I'll get to speak to a human. They've done this deliberately, I've spent hours going round in circles.

Tempting as it might seem cancelling the payment method is definitely not recommended.

The link does provide a number. I've just checked it. It's an 0333 (I presume you're in the UK).

Re: Trying to cancel my Sky TV package. They make it impossible
@William120 That sort of attitude is a recipe for disaster.
Sky won't take you to court, the collections company they pass the debt on to probably will though, and that will vastly increase the costs you owe and could potentially result in a CCJ, if that happens it could impact your employment, especially if you work in the finance department or sector.
Is it really worth that risk and hassle? Surely it's better to call and speak to Sky, even if that means being on hold for a while and having to deal with the awful bot fist.

Re: Trying to cancel my Sky TV package. They make it impossible
You're not reading my posts. I've tried for over THEE WEEKS to try and speak to someone. To no avail. It's impossible!
And yes, I know all the steps and links. They simply lead right back to the start and the bot, who spend 10 minutes telling you to speak to a human, and the link then takes you eventually back to the bot.

Hi @William120 I'm sorry I haven't read the entire thread, but have you raised a formal Complaint with Sky? Cancelling your DD may have closed some doors.
