SkySport's Offer

I am a customer of 22 years, and I still have a Sky+ box.  I have a 'selected' Few sports channels on my subscripion.  in May I received the follwoing email.  it said my current sub would be retired, and I would received Sky Sport complete for the same price for 24 months.

sky.jpg

Now, its 21 Aug and there is no sign of this upgrade.  I contacted Sky via online chat (no way of sharing this email with them other than cut and paste text).  I explained this email content and asked where my upgrade was.  They insisted i had to enter a 24 month contract to recieve the upgrade, and if i didnt my current sports pack would expire and I would lose the sports channels (never mentioned they would cancel my current sports price).

after 30 mins on the chat I got no where, and their stance was the same.  They simply said, wait until 30 th August if you wish, and if you want us to add Sky Sport Complete to your account let us know and we will offer it for the same price, but it will mean a 24 month contract.

The email NEVER mentions a 24 month contract. it simply says I will lose my current sub and be 'given' sports complete for 24 months for no extra

[removed]. I have been out of contract for around 10 years!!!!

funnily enough, NOW TV are offereing sky sports for £19.99 a month for 12 months.  so it looks like goodbye sky!

Re: Upgrade Scam

the email came from sky, but the offer is MISLEADING as you have to take a new 24 month contract for the upgrade.  that is the SCAM part

@pcbobuk   It's still not  a scam that is the terms of the offer.

A Scam is where you get NOTHING after paying someone for something.

Therefore your post title (which has now been amended) was both misleading and sensationalising.

Re: SkySport's Offer

how is this not a scam. they offered me an upgrade for free with no contract extension. when i tried to take up the offer they tried to bind me to a 24 month contract!

That is a guaranteed payment for 24 months, so its not FREE.  their email was misleading and I can bet a few people will be tricked into taking on a new 24 month contract on the premise they are removing my current package and want me to sign to a new one.

The email says it will just happen automatically, but it has not, and the chat with sky yesterday also suggested it was not going to happen unless I instructed them, and on instructing, would trigger 24 month contract.  This is WRONG MISLEADING and a SCAM

It might just be me, but where does it actually mention a new 24 month contract, all you have said is that there will be no price increase for 24 months ?

Your own reply is incorrect. The email quite clearly says Your Sky Sports price will stay the same for the next 24 months.

IMG_0092.pngThe  email is not misleading as it quite clearly it say you the discount price  for 24 months. Just like any other discounts offers  with Sky it usualy on a minimum term basis this offer is no different. There no mention of cancellation any time either. The interesting point it says quite clearly is says "say this price is for 24 months" not just your discount, so I would take it should not be subject to the annual price increase either.

Hi @pcbobuk

The email you received is the right one. We know there’s been a bit of a delay, but the changes are still coming and should be rolling out over the next few weeks.

Just to reassure you, these changes won’t put you into a new contract. They’ll simply be applied to your existing subscription.

We’ll pop an update on this thread next week. For now, just keep an eye on your subscription.

Apologises for the delay but thank you for bearing with us.

Thanks

If that case if will apply to exsisting contracts of individual Sky sports channel subscribers this subscription has not been offered or sold  now for some considerable time now, so subscribers who have these contracts are either on.monthly rolling contract or in the last couple of months of there minimum term. So as says these subscribers will get the there present price for 24 months will that still be the case if they are monthly rolling contract whether they are now on or when there minimum term ends and goes on monthly rolling contract which will be in avery few months  and long before the 24 month period promised in the email . Also if they decide to upgrade there contract for the rest of there Sky package will there Sky sports complete iteam still remain at there current price for the remainder of 24months period promised in the email. One futher point as say  the offer is at  " there current price  for 24months" dose that also mean in this case if list Sky sports complete  gose up in the annual price next year as it usually  dose, dose mean these subscribers will be exempt from this increase as the email quite clearly says " the current price for 24months" not discounts as is normally the case.

Re: SkySport's Offer

Thanks for all the replies.

yes the email does not say a new contract but read my original post

it says this will be done in August. It's now 23 August and it has not been done so I contact sky to ask about the free upgrade offered. The person at sky told me it would be a new contract and they could sort it for me immediately if I told them I would agree. I am waiting for 31 August to come then I wi get back to them.

given now tv are offering full sports for £19.99 I often why I still oay for the bloated satellite version.

@pcbobuk  I would take whatever cs agents say with a pinch of salt they aren't always correct and certainly aren't on this occasion

Re: SkySport's Offer

But that is the point. A lot of people would have been scammed into taking a 24 month contract as CS tried to with me but I stood my ground. That's why I call it a scam

@pcbobuk  But it's not a scam it's just that not all cs agents are aware of the offer

Re: SkySport's Offer

I have read through all the artcles submitted on this "Upgrade Sky Sports, all at no extra cost"  adding There's nothing you need to do _  we'll take care of everything for you  but more and more people are being told it will only be upgraded if you take out a 24 month contract, the people you talk to at Sky cannot, or don't want to give you a straight answer, and the more you read into it this offer is purely a sly ploy to get you commited to another 24 month contract, if so I will definitely be leaving Sky when my contract is up in a few months time.

*** HAS ANYONE RECEIVED A FREE UPGRADE YET WITHOUT TAKING OUT A NEW 24 MONTH CONTRACT.? ***
