Sky have taken a direct debit out of my bank on a Sunday

I always thought that direct debits only get taken out during Monday to Friday. For some reason sky have taken £36 out of my bank today which is Sunday and I'm sure they are allowed to do this? I also was really dependent on that money as it's all I have to last me for a week. How do I get it reversed/refunded please?

@Ross3990  it looks like your bank has released the money earlier than expected if it's due tomorrow then there is not much you can do

it's definitely not sky at fault

contact your bank if you want to take it further

No the direct debit with sky was due to come out on 18th which was two days ago but I didn't have the money to pay on that day. Then when I added money to my bank today (Sunday) they've deducted Fridays direct debit out of my account, which surely they cannot do?

@Ross3990  If the payment was due on the 18th which was Friday and it failed because of insufficient funds available sky should have tried again in 10 calendar days time

you will still need to contact the bank to sort this

@Ross3990 I don't think you will get it refunded or reversed, the money hasn't been taken in error as it was legitimately owed.

Are you sure the money has actually left your account and is not just being held in pending which would make the funds unavailable for anything else?

Unusual for direct debits to be processed on a weekend, but it depends on your bank's terrms of business. Was it actually presented for payment on Friday and bounced by your bank? As others have said, it has nothing to do with Sky. It takes more than 2 days for a direct debit to be initiated by the Originator (Sky) and they certainly wouldn't have known that you had deposited funds in your account.
