Sky Stream Cancellation Is Not possible

As a Sky/Q customer of over 25 years, I tried to Sky Stream and have to say it feels like an unfinished AI slop project.

But as an absolute Brucie Bonus , I can't cancel this garbage - whole think is just a complete joke making me now want to cancel my Sky Q account - dell done sky for trully winding the customer up!

@angrybiker

I think you need to contact Sky again and confess to what you've done. In my opinion your actions have probably contributed significantly in what has transpired.

You aren’t talking to Sky by posting here. If you are new to the forum then welcome to the Community which is made up predominantly of Sky customers helping other Sky customers which includes additional help from customers who are Superusers like myself.

You can't have two different Sky TV platforms at the same address so if you now have Stream you haven't got Sky Q any longer.

Numerous posts to this forum suggest it is in fact possible, but outside the cooling-off period you'd need to argue under consumer rights legislation that the product isn't as described / of adequate quality / fit for purpose and give Sky a reasonable opportunity to remedy the situation before negotiating exit from any applicable minimum contract term.

Incidentally, Stream was launched in 2021, which is rather before 'AI slop' was a thing.

Re: Sky Stream Cancellation Is Not possible

Yep - try cancelling in the cooling off period. Nowhere in the web app to do this (no surprise).

So have to chat to someone (after using the hilariously bad AI)  and finally get someone asking 'Is your broardband fast enough' -  really, let me guess have I tried turning it off and on.

Finally - after speaking to someone I get oh I can't cancel your account for some reason as the option isnt availble to me.

If it only have had Sky stream for only 5 days and you previously had Sky Q (I presume your SkyQ service stoped when you your Sky stream was activated) you are well with in the period to change your mind and go back to Sky Q, as normally the period for going back is 30 days after the activation of your Sky stream service . That is why Sky say you don't have return your SkyQ equipment till the end of that period. I presume you still have your Sky Q equipment?

If I was you and the above is the case I would get back to Sky and insist that you want to return to Sky Q under the above terms. If they say its not possible for you to do that,  ask them why in your circumstances  it not possible,. Then if necessary take it futher and  make a formal complaint.

Re: Sky Stream Cancellation Is Not possible

Wasnt that stupid - just did a monthly basic Sky Stream to see if it was worth switching as it would clean up all the dishes and cables on teh out side of the house - turned out its not! The fact I cant cancel is a realy cherry on top.

I dont understand  though I believe that a Sky Q subscriber is not normally offered a rolling monthly contract for changing to stream specaly if the still be in minium term with Sky Q . But as far as I am aware there has alway been the option for Sky Q subscribers switching back to Sky Q in 31 day cooling off period even if they had taken out a minimum term stream contract.
As I said above I would ask Sky why in you circumstances that the normal cooling off period dose not apply. What special conditions apply to your sky stream contract that makes it impossible to cancel and go back to sky Q. I presume that what you want to do?

However if you want to cancel Sky all together that may be a different matter.

@angrybiker if I've understood correctly, there's a system glitch of some kind preventing Sky's front line advisers from hitting the cancel button.

They should be able to cancel manually behind the scenes, if the problem has been escalated.

I'd suggest making a complaint in writing using the webform option here (take a screen shot before you send it) to protect your option to cancel during g the 31 days cooling off period: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/how-to-make-a-complaint

Re: Sky Stream Cancellation Is Not possible

I just took out a monthly Sky Stream on a different email and CC rather than screw up my Sky Q account - which was a good plan given the mess it would of created had they tried to migrate to Sky Stream. Underwhelmed would be an understatment.

Re: Sky Stream Cancellation Is Not possible

It certainly feels like the've started adding some slop in there. I cant quite believe you need some many clicks to get to settings - but plenty of thumbnails for stuff you don't seem to be able to clear out. Basic rules should be show as little as possible and add junk in rather than vomitting Sky's entire catalog on-screen all at once. Hence the AI comment - which as someone who uses Codex and Cursor for software development daily, I know only too well how AI loves to bloat a UI with sloppy junk while missing the core content and functions.

@angrybiker

As already stated you can't have both a Sky Q and Stream account at the same address so this could be a factor in the problem encountered.
