As already stated you can't have both a Sky Q and Stream account at the same address so this could be a factor in the problem encountered.

Yep, it has undoubtedly complicated things.

I agree that should not be possible, but out of curiosity I just went on the Sky customer as if I was new customer. Which I selected ultimate Tv  on Sky stream as rolling monthly  contract. It then asked me for my email address ( which like @angybiker did put in one that is not connected  to my Sky account) and postcode and then select my address, which it then  asked me to confirm I have lived here for more than 3 years, which I ticked. I then clicked on continue at it took me to a screen  that give me delivery details ect.

I did not go any further as I was actually going to get it. But though it should not be possible to have Sky Q and Sky  stream at the same address, doing what @angrybiker did seems to get round the system and it is possible to get both at the same address.

Basic rules should be show as little as possible and add junk in rather than vomitting Sky's entire catalog on-screen all at once. Hence the AI comment - which as someone who uses Codex and Cursor for software development daily, I know only too well how AI loves to bloat a UI with sloppy junk while missing the core content and functions.

I'd imagine various departments within Sky all wanting their own bit of the Home page is rather more to blame than AI

As I mentioned, the Glass/Stream UI was developed back in 2019-20 before launch in October 2021.

Accessing rarely-used features such as the Settings menu is best done through the Voice Control function from the remote handset: these were never going to have on-screen priority.

So you are paying 2 subscriptions simultaneously one for Sky Q and the other for Sky stream. Both on the same bank account?

Re: Sky Stream Cancellation Is Not possible

It didnt complain at all about signing up. I used my current email rather than the old one I orginally took Sky out with many many many (many...) years ago.

It created an account did all the right stuff - just it wont allow the new Stream contract to be cancelled. I'm sure it will get cancelled but it will almost certainly require more unecessary frustration for what should be a simple process,

This issue is that the claimed cooling off is fine but they making as hard as possible to do it

@angrybiker

I think you need to contact Sky again and confess to what you've done. In my opinion your actions have probably contributed significantly in what has transpired.

If you confess as Sky  won't allow both Sky Q and Sky  stream at the same time at the same  address they will probably stop one service, but it might be your SkyQ particularly if you Sky is no longer in  minimum term but your Sky stream appears to be.

So it should be a mater of giving the statuary 31 day notice to cancel if you are not tired in to a two year deal. If Sky are unaware of what you have done it should be difficult to cancel.

Re: Sky Stream Cancellation Is Not possible

I told them I had sky q and it didn't freak them out at all. What I did say is I would go legal if they touched our Sky Q service which is why I confirmed both the sky stream sky id and that the call was recorded for evidence as to my instructions! We are the customers and sky is customer service is shoddy at best!

Re: Sky Stream Cancellation Is Not possible

So you can have Sky Stream and Q at the same address - this is an urban myth it would seem as I just got a callback from Sky saying that they would cancel my Sky Stream and it would not impact Q and the cancellation had nothing to do with having both packages. A good example where this would be the case would be a flat share or HMO where the same address could be used for multiple accounts.
