They also added 'Ltd' to name they gave me and Sky Assured Ltd has a company number!

There is indeed a registered company of that name, and they may in fact provide cover for legacy Sky products: that's a legitimate area of business which Sky itself doesn't have jurisdiction over.

What they shouldn't be doing is in any way pretending to be associated with Sky Group, or tricking people into making payments for a service which hasn't been specifically chosen.

I'd note that the Companies House entry contains an 'active proposal to strike off'.

It's also possible that an entirely different group of spammers is using the name in their scripts.

I had a call from them a few days ago, after I temporaily turned off my phone's call screening service. They didn't get very far, though. After the initial attempt to be engaging -  'it's Sky Assured, how are you today..'  - I said 'not interested' and hung up before they had the chance to say anything else. 🙂

Re: Sky Assured

Oh, wow - thank you - and it was the way he added the 'Ltd' after the initial name that made me wonder if the 'ltd' bit was real!  I have to say that what most of the contributors to this information basically gave the same story as I received!  I did say that Sky had told me when I got my new Sky Q box would be free anyway but it was when he mentioned the TV as well and it has been playing up a bit!  Am so glad I didn't go ahead with it, although I would have had a problem giving him my details over the phone because most companies don't do that!

Re: Sky Assured

Well I've already paid them a year ago and was a bit suspicious then but haven't had any calls from them until a few days ago as they are saying that I still have one more year on my contract but I said I don't want to do it any more and they said I would need to pay £80 to get out of the contract and they had the last 4 digits of my debit card and of my mobile number so I agreed to pay the £80 to get them off my back and then he asked me that if my bank contacted me about the payment to accept it and also do I have any power of attorney. I got very suspicious then but he said I had been put into a line and that somebody else will call to do the transaction so I just haven't been answering the phone as it's been ringing a lot so sure it's them as it's the house phone and doesn't normally ring much. I've been checking my account and nothing has been taken out. The only reason I gave them any time at all was because they kept saying I had a contract with them but I haven't signed anything or even seen anything on paper!

Re: Sky Assured

We've had 2 calls from them saying we can pay a one-off £99 to save money instead of the £11.99 monthly we are paying.

We're not paying anything. I only have free to air Sky and a Firestick.

The chancer said we don't just cover sky, we cover free view boxes etc, too.

Complete and utter scam. My tip? Know you're direct debits so you KNOW that you're not paying out anything and certainly don't give them ANY details.

Re: Sky Assured

Got a call from these scammers yesterday saying my Sky Assured insurance was up for renewal. I said I had no such policy and never have. They rung off but later yesterday I got a similar call telling me my cover from my water company for all the plumbing on my property and pipes supplying water was up for renewal. I again said I had no such policy and they said I did and it had been active since 2021.  I said they should send me details of the policy by post and they said they had on October  didn't I receive it. When I said no they apologised that it must have been delayed due to Christmas post issues -in October I think not.  The woman that spoke to me then said she would send it again and rung off.
I have one rule with dubious calls and that I only ask questions and never agree to pay over the phone or give bank details or any personal details even if they ask me to confirm what they tell me they have . Hope everyone keeps safe as it seems there are a lot of these snakes around
