Sad Sky Q Customer

Hey I need some help....

Okay so my 83 yo father and myself have been with Sky since 2011 and are currently out of contract paying £165 per month (yes that right £165!) I have never paid more than £100 per month for our package in this time recontracting each time... We are apparently a platinum VIP member... 😄 means nothing it seems what banter from Sky, just a welcoming homely email each week 😄

We have;

Sky Signature £32.50

Ultimate TV add on £8

Sky Sports £33

Sky Sports HD £2 (including some random -£4 discount)

Multiscreen (x1) £15

3D (Yeah that once was a thing!) £0

Ultra HD £4

Broadband Superfast (fastest in my area even thought the sky engineer messed up my setup - long story and about 2 Yrs ago!) £43

Sky Talk International £18 - The father has Altzheimers and constantly calls his family in Ireland....

When I called Sky to recontract in 2024 I was awaiting the usual "oh we can get this lower for you" and expecting the usual £97ish deal but I spat my Aldi coffee out when they said the lowest they can do is £150....... which is an upheavel of 30%. The polite indian call handler advised that inflation in the UK has been so high - but not 30% as I pointed out.... this is the first recontract after the comcast buyout

I really do not want to change to Sky stream (the call handler gave me a deal which was unbeatable for me of like £70pm for the lot as my father has Altzheimers and I do not think he can cope with the change to a stream service!) I also do not want to cancel Sky apart from the multiscreen which tbh I do not use!

My question being how can they offer me a deal for basically the same package I have now for half the price than any recontract for a 18/24 term? I also share I lost my job in 2024 and now care full time for my father - I know this is not Skys problem, but it seems they are willing to charge us over and above the deals for the same content just beacuse I do not feel my father can handle the change.

Just like car insurance, is it even legal (yes it is apparently - for now!) to offer better deals to new customers than to existing (although this was banned!) but I'm disgusted with sky! Luckily I am here to act as an ambassodor for my father whereas they would happily take the best part of £200 a month from him if I didnt check his bills

no we dont need sky glass (as we already have a superior TV!) and no stream is not an option!

Can anyone help me? Or do we just cancel?

@yellowbootson

You might have to go down the cancellation route and be prepared to go through with it if they still do not offer you a reasonable discount.
