Which has absolutely nothing to do with Sky, as Eurosport is owned by WDB and it was their decision to close down thier free sports brand and move all the sports coverage over to their paid-for TNT Sports brand ( of which part of the reason was to help fill gaps in the live sports schedule of the 4 TNT Sports channels as TNT went through a period of not renewing a bunch of sporting rights).

Sky recently signed a deal with Zuffa boxing in order to show their events and bring Boxing coverage back to Sky Sports (https://www.skysports.com/boxing/news/12183/13520991/sky-sports-and-zuffa-boxing-sign-landmark-multi...)
So whilst there was a period where perhaps boxing fans were left out with the coverage, they have certainly increased their coverage of boxing once again.

Mark I think your missing the point of this whole thread I have been with sky from day one in fact I used to sell it many many years ago I used to pay 16 pounds for the full package movie sport I even remember the days of topless darts back then you got to see every sport under the sun but over the last ten years sky is showing less and less sport weather it wasn't sky's fault they lost Eurosport sport the fact still remains the end user which is me is paying more every year but receives less and less yes sky does show more football than it did five years ago but that's it it shows no rugby union no top quality boxing superleague rugby is 90 percent on the red button which works great in the room your internet is in but **bleep** anywhere else so my question to you and everybody else with all the competition such as BT virgin tnt premier now TV netflix Amazon apple TV do you think sky will survive charging customers over 76 quid for sky plus the sport no movies and what price do you think is fair value

I don't thnk i am missing the point, on one of your previous posts, which i replied to you were claiming that Sky had lost a lot of sport, and also listed specific sports. For some of the sports, you are correct Sky clearly decided the TV rights weren't worth the value and decided to concentrate on other sports, however for a number of examples you listed your argument was factually incorrect which it what i picked up on.
With regards to your question about will Sky survive with this sports strategy and price - i actually think the answer is yes, as exclusivity of Sports is literally the big USP that Sky can offer now, due to the uptake of streaming and the death of broadcast TV. In addition with the NOW TV service ( which is owned by Sky), you don't have to pay £70/80 per month to have base Sky + Sports, you can literally just pay for the sports subscription. I do also think the purchase of ITV may help Sky, as some sports rights holders MAY potentially be willing to accept slightly smaller rights fees from Sky, if it meant as a part of the deal some of the coverage is broadcast free-to-air via ITV to help that sport grow and gain further exposure.
With TNT Sports, absolutely no one knows what the future of the UK version of that will be or look like. Should Paramount complete the takeover of WDB, they will own TNT Sports but the question will very much be, based on how much debt would be taken on to complete the purchase of WBD ( on top of the debt they already had as part of the Skydance Paramount takeover), if they would even be financially capable of submitting bids for some of the more premium sports rights that other parties are also interested in acquiring. The delay of the takeover not happening by the Autumn and being held up until at least next Spring is already going to add at least in the region of an additional $1.7 billion to the takeover cost due to the offer Paramount made as part of the bid.
Currently most of the other streaming services seemingly don't want to overspend on expensive sports rights, which would likely lead them to having to substantially increase their subscription prices for all sports to subsidise any sporting rights costs. Amazon for the UK dipped their toes in the water of live sports with one of the smaller PL TV packages, and also the tennis tour and then subsequently dropped their interest in them to instead go with the weekly UCL game, which gives them about 13/14 games a season. Disney + are testing the value of a small number of football games by broadcasting the saturday night La Liga game and having the rights to the Women's Champions League, but these rights were likely relatively cheap in the scheme of sports right, and again is an example of them wanting either a small number of games ( e.g one a week) or games at an irregular schedule you get with the women's CL where you may have 2 rounds one month, then one round the following month etc, as a way of getting those fans to continue subscribing month after month.
Paramount seem to be the outlier with the money they have spent on the men's UCL rights for the next TV contract, but that is a company that is potentially willing to lose money over the short/medium term in a bid to get new paying subscribers to their platform who won't cancel during months where there is no UCL matches or who won't cancel if Paramount fail to renew to the rights at the end of the deal. Paramount + has a relatively small paying subscriber base when compared to the more established Netflix and Disney +, so they are ultimately more likely willing to gamble on the cost of such a rights deal in order to try and grow the revenue over a much longer term.

Re: Lost the plot
Should probably add to my previous post, i do think within the next decade it will likely have been bought or merged into a bigger media conglomerate whether thats Disney, Netflix, Apple etc as i reckon the spin-off company of NBCU/Sky, which is being separated out from Comcast, will almost certainly be a ripe target for a merger with another streamer or tech company within a couple of years. That is exactly what we have seen in this market over the past few years, as it became saturated with streaming companies that mainly couldn't make a profit.
Although even if it is taken over, I can very much see the Sky Sports brand surviving beyond that in whatever guise that may be.

I think you will find that when you negotiate with virgin when your present new customer deal come to a end I think you will find customer service behaviour is lot worse than your dealings with Sky if recent media reports are anything to go by. According to those reports they given a very big fine for there customers staff behaviour to customers wishing to cancel or negotiate there subscriptions. I don't think Sky has been in that boat even they also have there fair share of complants.

If in future you jump ship from virgin for broadband better deal you will also have charge your tv provider as well, virgin will not cancel your broadband with them if you still have there tv service, as there tv service is delivered by virgin broadband cables. There has been instances where a customer has changed there broadband service to another provider but not canceling tv service. And have found though they thought there virgin broadband service had been cancelled by there new provider to find they still had virgin broadband as well as the service from there new provider. It can only happen with virgin as they use there own cable and equipment to provide there service to your property unlike providers like Sky that use open reach. And if you still have there tv service from them your virgin broadband service remains active even though your new provider as requested cancellation.

And what is that "biggest competition in the world " Sky has not had the champions league now for any years in fact I can't remember when they actually had that one. For the past few years at least and up till the end of the next season TNT sports have held the UK rights to show champions league, except for oe match a week that is shown on Pure Video. As of the start of the 2027/28 season this will be taken over by paramount +
Also as of the 2027/28 season Sky will regain the rights to show the Europa league football from TNT sports. So with Sky showing 80 % of televised premier league matches this season and all EFL matches, carabel cup matches, and also some sottish football matches as well.
So your comment that Sky only have the Premier league is quite wrong infact as from next season Sky will be showing more foot ball then any other provider.
And wrong as well when you Sky is not showing more football than was 5 years ago. 5 years ago. Football was confined to just 2 Sky sorts channels. Now they are showing so much football the two channels are not enough, Premier league matches last season are often shown multiple Sky sports channels some tines 5 or6 channels all showing matches at the same time, by the look of it the same is going to happen this coming season.
EFL maches this week have been shown most everning not only on the football and main event channels but on the red button on the Sky sports + channel, up to 11 matches shown simultaneously on one day. No you are wrong there is a lot more football show on Sky sports than there was 5 years ago.

Re: Lost the plot
Have to say that's one well written reply and your right I don't have to pay 76 quid for sky as I cancelled my contract and went over to virgin but my question still stands what do you think fair value for 1 sky sports
2 sky movies
3 all the other sky channels excluding the above two I know you can get all the above plus Netflix for 35 quid which is fair value but why does sky want 76 quid from long standing customers like me surely it's better to get 35 quid from me as the cost is zero I already have the equipment it's only beaming the signal to me which cost nothing simply doesn't make good business sense

See post 2 of this thread.
You've left which is entirely your choice if you don't consider it value for money so I'm not sure why this thread is still needed.
