I would like to know why my bill has gone from £139.50 to £170 please. What has changed please?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@PlumStar9 if you really want to know the exact reason you need to phone Sky and actually ask them rather than post on a public forum. But as @Mark39 alluded to certainly sounds like you are at the end of your minimum term contract so you have lost any discounts you had.
You can call on 150 from a Sky Talk Line or Sky Mobile.
If you haven't got a current Sky Mobile or Sky Talk this link should help:
https://www.sky.com/help/home Scroll down and click on ‘Need more help’ and it provides a 0333 number. If you are in the ROI on the same link change the flag in the very bottom corner to the ROI flag to obtain an 0818 number.

You could compare a previous bill to your latest bill and see where the amounts differ. Click on the blue down arrow alongside any amounts that appear different.

Hi I have noticed my monthly payment has increased over the last couple of months would like to know why when we have not made any upgrades

Same as above, probably your in contract discounts have expired (part way through a month thus why the increase over 2 months).
