I had the same. Said they are phoning to reduce my bills then went silent and hung up.

Just had a call from this number - surprised to find from here that it seems to be legit as it seemed very scammy. The caller did know what I currently had in my package to be fair, but hung up on me when I said I wanted to see details of the offer online through my sky account rather than trusting a random phone call.

@Jamesw224 the number is a Sky number, but can be spoofed by a scammer, so you're right to be cautious. The catch 22 is that genuine calls are from Sky's marketing team which can offer better deals than you're likely to be offered elsewhere - and they'll lapse as soon as the call is ended. They won't be available online.

Just had that call from that number, I thought sky asked for your contact password before the call proceeded, so I too hung up before we got any further.

I recived a call from Sky, when i said I had renewed a couple of weeks ago they just hung up!
Pretty poor customer service once they realise there is nothing in it for them they just hang up and move onto the next one.

That wouldn't have been a call from Sky as it would have been from a scammer.

It was from the same number as the OP.
They also knew that i had canceled one of my packages, so they wern't cold calling.
They must have had access to Sky's data fairly recently. If they were a scammer that makes it even more worrying rather than just a rude Sky employee.

Sounds like in your case the call was legitimately from Sky (albeit an impolite one).

Scammers piggyback off information they have already stolen to make it look and sound like they are genuine, hold fast, ask the question's you need to ask to verify who you are talking to, if they hang up you know you were right to question who is calling, if you call sky back off sky's genuine number and No note's have been left on your account (from recent contact) it's a scam, if it feels like a scam, sound's like a scam, then it's pretty much a scam, be vigilant

I just took out a broadband and Sky Q package with the help of a very nice young lady at SKY. Today I got a call saying they wanted to talk about something to do with data protection. They asked to speak with the account holder not by my name.
With so many scammers these days it's not enough to ask for the account holder, at a minimum they should know my name.
Felt awkward since their voice sounded familiar.
We need a better security reference from Sky when they call.

With any unexpected calls from Sky if the caller asks for your telephone password to confirm you're the account holder (which a genuine Sky agent should) initially give an INCORRECT one on purpose. If the caller doesn't challenge it then you know it'll likely be a scam call.

I just had a similar call from that number but when I asked which account it was for (I have two) or the postcode they couldn't answer 🧐
