If you're 'in contract' you've agreed to it. If not, cancel.

Because they can! Scammers don't have to be polite.

Thought they were supposed to be genuine sky customer service not scammers

I just recieved a call
(removed)
, claiming to be from Sky. The caller knew i had just completed my 4th year and wanted to offer me the VIP package. I said okay...
He then wanted to verify my identity. I thought... but you called me why do you have to verify me, some do anyway.
So I went along and gave my name, first line of address and post code. He then asked for my Sky password. I thought... why do you need that? why are you asking scam questions.
I couldnt even recall it anyway, so he asked for my mother's maiden name. I thought...def a scam. why do you need all this to give me VIP status.
I then tried to change the topic by asking him to give me details of this VIP package and the benefits, he was unable to and started stuttering. Def a scam!
Just in case i was wrong and it wasnt a scam, i asked him to email me the details and i would review and apply for Sky VIP myself. He still insisted on getting my darling mother's maiden name so i hung up.
Dear Sky, if this is genuine, then you have gone a long way to make it sound like a scam

Just recieved a call claiming to be from sky -

. The lady, sounding if indian heritage, stated that she was calling as there have been a number of complaints from sky customers regarding service issues and high billing and therefore a large loss of customers so to encourage customer retention they were offering 50% off my bill for the rest of the yeah. It sounded fishy from the get tbh. She asked me to provide information such as how much im paying for my monthy bill and my email address (I did complain about experiencing the same issue but she didnt delve much deeper so felt even more fishy) I returned the question to her stating that I confirm that the current information sky has on file for me is correct and if she could read that back to me as she must have the current system open. She hung up.... not sure if Ive just talked myself out of a deal or not but I asked her why she is calling me on a mobile phone number and she dodged the question.
Has anyone else experienced this? I think it may be scammers.

Highly unlikely, in my view. The premise for the call sounds suspect from the outset, and the likelihood of Sky offering a 50% discount is very low, given their current strategy when customers try to negotiate a deal on renewal.

No company would call from a 'random' mobile phone number... Instant red flag.

Yeah my thoughts exactly and 50% off for all customers for the rest of the year! Lol. I asked her why as it doesnt sound like a smart business model and she just kept repeating herself.

Perhaps she was hoping that the prospect of a whopping 50% off would overcome any initial reluctance! Didn't work out though.....

Have sky employed an overseas call centre to carry out their marketing? Sorry but if I receive an 0800 number call that first says they are from sky and second they want some of my details from someone who it's obvious English is not their first language the call won't last very long. Will ring Sky myself now and see what they can do about my increasing bill.

Received a call from Sky today trying to sell Sports or Movies. When I said not interested they hung up. As a Diamond member I thought that was rather rude

Received a call 📞 from the same number. I said hello twice, I could hear someone faffing in the background but they didn't say anything. Probably had their headset switched to the ignore setting whilst chewing on a toffee!
Cancelling my contract at renewal, it's not worth the price for loyal customers.

I also received a phone call and they hung up as soon as I said I wanted to get money off bills. I was going to ask about the appalling broadband as well, but as I'm looking into other providers I think I'll just go with them. Sky aren't as good as they used to be.
