Domestic & General Query
Thanks for passing my details on to Domestic & General.
They called me multiple times whilst on holiday in Greece but I could not make out what they were saying.
Upon my return another call came in and they claimed to be Sky.
"Sky" wanted me to insure my Sky Q box against breakdown.
I asked "Sky" if they had my correct address and they correctly read it back to me.
I then informed "Sky" that the Sky Q box belonged to them and they were obliged to replace it within 24 hours if it malfunctioned (Removed).
I then asked if they were really Sky to which he told me that they were the insurance company Domestic & General.
So thank you very much "Real Sky" for passing my personal details on to a third party that was not entitled to that information (Removed)

Re: GDPR BREACH.
@The+Necromancer
In case you aren’t aware this is a customer to customer forum and you’re not contacting Sky Customer Services by posting on here.
Sky Protect is run by Domestic and General Insurance but is endorsed by Sky. Unfortunately D & G have been known to announce themselves as Sky on outgoing calls which I agree is a bit naughty.

On the above point there is no obligation for Sky to replace a faulty box within 24 hours.
There has been no fraud or attempt and you're quite right to decline the invitation of cover if that's what you want to do.

Re: GDPR BREACH.
They announce that they are calling "on behalf of" sky which they are. They're not calling from sky but on behalf of.

I suspect that depends on the particular agent making the call, and whether or not they stick to a script.

Re: Domestic & General Query
D&G do offer a Sky insurance which protects the dish & cabling as well as offering a quicker engineer's appointment but there's also Sky assurance which is a scam piggybacking on the Sky name which is not connected to Sky in any way. If pushed they will admit this but usually aren't forthcoming with the information. Sky assurance claim to offer insurance on sky products & devices like TVs.
I don’t work for Sky.
If I have helped then please leave a like.
