Fraudsters… 0207 864 7131?

Person called... knew my name, mobile, bills paid details etc

call from number ending  7131 (not alllowed to post full number) 

offering 40% customer loyalty

asked for how long - forever

said I don't think this is legit ... email me details from sky. She sent me a Google email no sky banner (with a verification code) and said she would send a sky email after. I asked her to send the sky details as I am driving and could sort later. She preferred to call back. 

contacted sky - no offer and no entries on system (2nd call today with male) 

funny thing is the person I spoke to via sky (woman) prior to the 2nd call (male) sounded like she was in the same space to the one that offered 40% off (and that call was coincidentally dropped when I queried the scam call) 

also fraudster has not called back and it is 4:10pm

The number the call is showing from can be spoofed and any call out of the blue offering you a discount that lats forever will most likely be a scam. I take it you gave them no personal details ?

Have you ever responded to any emails saying you needed to update your account ?

It's more likely they have compromised your account - possibly by reusing a password used elsewhere.

If you have sky  mobile  ring sky  on 150 to speak  to  someone  and report  this  aswell

Also  i would contact the action fraud  line in case any of your  accounts email or otherwise  have been compromised

Didn't get a chance to go into detail but they knew about the adjustments and that I never missed a bill

Interesting... they new my emails and send me a code for verification but I was out and about so did not take action

i agree the forever was the part that definitely... made me thinking this is not legit 

think changing passwords and emails may be my next action also...

Just need to make a list now .

But when I called sky and was put through to one of the teams the background sounded similar; the person also but i did not want to assume ... and my call was cut just after I mentioned my concern

when I called back following the same route-- I spoke with someone  else  (Which happens) and the background was different 

Anyway hopefully all is well

The verification code sounds like a classic "we'll try to login as you and it generates a verification code from the legit site which goes to you as the real customer" swindle. They don't need to be sky to generate one of those.

It's a known scam. The code asked for would be for the 2 factor authentication, they're trying to sign into your account but have been prevented by this security feature, the code is either sent via email, sms/text or shown within an authentication app. 

If you gave them this code then they have full access to your account so I would recommend changing the password immediately.

If unsure about any call enter the number in the who called me website & more often than not other users will have reported it as scam.
