Can anyone please help me

My broadband & Talk are going up by a ridiclous amount, I currently pay £34 per month for both broadband & evening/weekend calls, if Sky are increasing 6.2% which is roughly £2..10 why is my future bill going up to £57, I am out of contract early May, I have raised several tickets for some one to call me back re cancedllation, I rang myself last week & after a lengthy wiat I was told by a rude, unprofessional memebr of Sky staff there is nothing they can do about the huge increase, so can anyone help. I just want a call back so I can discuss the cancellation, I don't want to leave Sky but I simply cannot afford any increases, especially £23 per month rise,

Thank you

Sally

Hi @sallirb

The higher than 6.2% increase will be because your minimum term is ending, therefore any in-contract discounts will be expiring. Sky should be able to offer you discounts for re-contracting, however it may be a bit early to do it hence why the advisor said there was nothing they could do. Your best option would be to call and ask for cancellations if thats what your looking for.

@sallirb

You answered your own question there. It's going up more because of your discount ending next month on top of this months annual price increase.

Having been informed of the price increase you should be able to cancel Sky Broadband penalty free within 30 days of the notification. You need to contact Sky and give the required notice of 14 days. Remember that if you are still in a discounted 18/24 months deal Sky could impose cancellation charges.

Return packaging for any equipment Sky expect back will be sent out to you near the end of any notice period. Remember to keep any proof of posting indefinitely.

That figure refers to an average increase in list price - individual increases will often be higher net of discounts.

if it's TV then you'll have to sit it out and negotiate.  If it's broadband then you can leave if done promptly.

Re: Can anyone please help me

I realise that but I have been waiting for over 3 weeks for a call back to discuss a new contract, I have  called Sky but after waiting 37 minutes to be told ' Tough, take it or leave it ', this is not the way to treat a loyal long term customer, what I wanted to know was can anyone here arrange for me to have this pormised call back, if not then I think I will simply cancell the contract which ends 5th May

Thank you

@sallirb

We can't arrange a call back. You will need to instigate contact again if the callback isn't forthcoming.

Hi @sallirb   Catch 22, you will need to contact Sky to cancel. Just checking that you know that you are only talking to other customers. See Welcome below.

With respect if a call back hasn't happened within 3 weeks I suspect it wasn't going to happen...  Unfortunately, you'll have to chase.

That's fine - but remember you'll have to call and give 31 days notice.  (The contract doesn't end of 5th May - the discounts simply drop off if you take no action).  My calculations are that that's today if you want to give notice...
