Advice Needed – Issues with Sky Account Under Deputyship

Hi,

Has anyone had a similar experience?

I have been appointed as Deputy to manage my brother’s financial affairs. Previously, his Sky account was handled by the local authority.

When I contacted Sky to change over payment details for the new bank account (providing the account number and telephone password), I was told that the account is inactive, with the last payment received in January 2025. However, my brother’s financial records provided by the council shows that the council has been paying almost £80 per month to Sky.

The council has said they cannot provide another password or account number. On Sunday, I spent over an hour on the phone with a Sky advisor who agreed to help if I obtained banking details from the council. He also mentioned there appears to be another account under my brother’s address, but he couldn’t access it without the password or account number. As I didnt receive a call back as agreed by the Advisor today, I called back the next day, I was not able to speak to the same advisor, and the email address I was given to send the Deputyship order turned out to be invalid.

To complicate things further, a Sky engineer visited in March 2025 and confirmed that three accounts are registered at my brother’s address—two active and one suspended. Both Sky and the council have been unable to clarify the situation, and I am now left without a proper resolution.

As I am now responsible for managing his affairs, I urgently need to sort out his Sky services, but Sky’s support has been unhelpful so far. I also suspect there may be some irregularities with the payments.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how best to resolve this?

Thank you.
