Re-arrange the tv guide so HD is default (or allow users to do this)

I can't be the only one that finds it irritating that the TV guide default channel order doesn't have all the HD channels in order.

101 - BBC One (standard definition)

102 - BBC Two (HD)

103 - ITV HD (HD)

104 - Channel 4 (standard definition)

105 - Channel 5 HD (HD)

Every time I want to watch either BBC One or Channel 4 in HD, I either have to scroll down 20 or so channels to find them, or go to the HD sub-section and again scroll down to find them (although less channels to scroll through this way).

My suggestion is either re-order the channel orders so HD is the default for all the channels earlier in the TV guide -OR- give users the option to re-order channels themselves (I'm sure you used to be able to do this on the old Sky boxes?).

@Anonymous do you have a SKY + box or SKY Q

If SKY Q then you can set  up to 99 (I think) channels in the Favourites section (in the order you wish)

Unfortunately otherwise SKY does seem to have an aversion to letting customers customize anything (I guess partly so they can roll out changes easily)

Unfortunately I think you need to petition Ofcom to make this change as they regulate the channel numbers and under ofcom regulations, regional varieties of stations take precedence

Alternatively, you could set up favourites and place bbc 1 HD and Channel 4 in position 1 and 4 and build your own epg of (if on sky q) of your favourite 99 channels from 1 to 99

As said - use  'Favourites' option. My EPG has:

1 - BBC1 HD

2 - BBC2 HD

3 - ITV HD

4 - Channel 4 HD

5 - 5 HD

and so on

Use the HD tab in the TV guide it then does not list the SD channels 🙂

It is the choice of the BBC and C4.

In England, as others have said, the BBC doesn't screen the regions in HD, and it prefers you to have your regional programmes on 101. It does switch outside of England.

C4 does it as it does switch those who receive London, but not elsewhere. It sells advertising on a regional basis, and prefers people to watch their regions adverts, and it only transmits the London region in HD on satellite..

It would be even simpler if programmes just defaulted to the highest definition available on a viewers subscription. It's 2021, why do we even have to choose this?

The region should be mentioned whenever there are channel numbers mentioned. I should have mentioned that I am in Scotland and we do have BBC One Scotland HD on 101. Channel 4 is SD and 138 is the HD channel.

You're resurrecting needlessly a reply that was made 5 months ago. If the OP hadn't understood they would have long since responded.
