I changed tv package from sky signature to essentials, I asked if it would affect my recordings in HD box and was told it wouldn’t.
After the switch I noticed my recordings from sky comedy were no longer able to be viewed, got message across screen to upgrade..
I was annoyed, I contacted sky but they keep denying responsibility as usual, terrible service.
Would someone please advise how I can retrieve my recordings to watch immediately then delete.?
Can I get the series on smart tv at no extra cost?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreTo view recordings you need to have a subscription to the channels they were recorded from.
You would need to re-subscribe, therefore, to the Signature package to regain access to the recordings from any channel included in the package.
You don't need a subscription to view or watch recordings from the free to air channels.

Didn't Signature include HD access while Essential does not?
Subscribing to HD may regain access to the recordings?

Yes but they advised any previous recordings from signature, would not be affected.

They're not affected in that they're still on your box's hard disk, but you need to have the subscription to view them as previously advised.

They are affected as I can not view them , despite my asking them about this at point of sale.
Can you advise how I can watch the series , without having to re subscribe, for a fault that is not mine, as they should have known this would happen.

If you believe you were mislead then put in a complaint giving details of the date and time you were told this:

Sky may claim you asked the wrong question, you should've asked whether you would be able to view HD recordings?
Hopefully you'll be able to get a discount deal on HD access or they may give temporary access of a few months to view the recordings you have not watched yet😉

@Exiled-in-HH you need to have the base package which is Sky signature before you can add any other packages therefore @Rainbow32 would need to have Sky Signature and add the HD pack as well
You cannot add HD to the Sky essentials package
