Transferring from Virgin Media
Hi
I have a 30 days notice period on Virgin. How long does Sky take to install BB & TV and do I need to overlap services to avoid a breaak?
Thanks

Re: Transferring from Virgin Media
This forum is primarily customer-to-customer help, you're not talking to Sky support
Only Skys ordering team could give you that info, try phoning

Usually wise to overlap services a bit, which is easy to do as Virgin uses their own network and Sky uses Openreach mainly.
Depending on how long it takes Openreach to install the relevent cabling/ONT etc, you may get a couple of weeks overlap. Sky normally send out Stream pucks as soon as they're ordered so if you order TV at the same time then you can start using the puck straight away on your Virgin service until the Sky broadband is activated.

Re: Transferring from Virgin Media
There's a City Fibre (I think they work with Open Reach now?) layed alongside the Virgin Media with a access point ready and waiting. Just needs a cable across the front garden so hoping it will be easy.

Yes I will do. When I was looking at packages etc I didn't see anywhere to initiate a chat / phone call, all seeded geared to completing an order online.

Re: Transferring from Virgin Media
@IanHughes If you use One Touch Switching then there won't be an overlap of Broadband services as OTS is designed to take over your Broadband service from VM either via an Openreach connection, or if CityFibre is availble via their network, your old service will end the same day ypur new one starts.
OTS however does not cancel your TV package with Virgin Media as OTS is a broadband only switching servce so you will need to give Virgin Media notice to cancel your TV service.

Re: Transferring from Virgin Media
Ah that's useful to know.
Virgin doesn't do TV without BB so I wonder how that works.
