That's disappointing news. It's been in decline for a long time but still has some good movies. Sign of the times sadly.

Not sure what is going on behind the scenes at Warner Bros Discovery (other than changing BT Sport into TNT Sport from July and the US film and TV production fallouts due to the mixture of tax writedowns and the ongoing writers strike among others), this will be heatbreaking for film lovers across the UK and Ireland, especially as it started as a part time service as 'TNT Classic Movies' (sharing the output with Cartoon Network) in 1993.

More or less constant disruption since divestment by AT&T and acquisition by Discovery?
Actually, a bit of a corporate dumpster fire going back two decades to AOL Time Warner

@smurph69the channel was just called TNT from its launch until it morphed into Turner Classic Movies and then TCM.
I think 'heartbreaking' is slightly OTT when it's just a TV channel (with dwindling numbers) and its movies are available via other outlets... and its movie output with me migrated to Quest.

Selected content is to go over to the Quest channel https://www.cordbusters.co.uk/tcm-movies-uk-to-shut-down/

Ah this is a real shame but I went to the channel less and less when they removed the HD channel option. Others have said how the catalogue wasn't what it once was and the rights grab with movies for streaming has probably hurt this. I hope Quest can fill the void but it was nice having a dedicated movies channel

Some of the movies shown on TCM Movies will be shown on/available with Quest, so some of the content will still be available.

When TCM went from HD over to SD on SKY, that's when it closed down for me.

No, Warner Bros Discovery who own the channel have closed it down, not Sky. https://rxtvinfo.com/2023/sky-satellite-viewers-to-lose-four-channels-this-fortnight/

The channel has closed on Virgin as well so no this has nothing to do with Sky.

Damn shame, always had some classics. Loved the old westerns.
