Sky sports channels and prices

I think it would a awesome idea to have 10 sky sports channels which can air EVERY team game from the premier league and then put it at a set price because I for dang sure would definitely upgrade IF it was a reasonable price

I feel that although you say there's more football aired the last time I upgraded to sky sports I didn't see my team play once in a whole month so 10 channels 2 teams per channel means all 20 teams and all games covered and if the price was either the same OR slightly lower I'd happily upgrade because I refuse to have sky sports when my team isn't on and I know many other customers who've been customers for years downgrade due to the same reason

Sky don't have exclusive rights to all Premier League games, so it's not gonna happen I'm afraid.

For the upcoming Season, sky sports will broadcast at least 215 Premier league matches.

Tnt sports have 52 matches

These are what the Premier league where offering for broadcast rights.

With 3pm blackout for tv, sky and tnt sports can't show matches at that time.

During covid for a short period, the Premier league clubs trialled a ppv service for the matches outside of the broadcast agreements, this went badly.

More matches on tv, mean more costs. Which are passed on to consumer.

Ultimately it is the Premier league who control the rights and tv.

Couple of issues with this, firstly the 3pm blackout means any PL games being played at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon cannot be broadcast on TV. Secondly its down to the PL how many games they sell for TV coverage. The way the PL structure the TV packages, the packages will always be split by at least 2 different broadcasters as they don't allow for one single broadcaster to purchase all the TV packages.

This season is the first of four seasons for the new TV broadcast deal so nothing will change with how they rights are sold until the next rights auction process kicks off in 3 years time.

Also worth noting the new deal does lead to more football being broadcast:

Sky has been awarded four of the five packages and will show a minimum of 215 matches a season including all Saturday 5.30pm kick-offs, Sunday 2pm and 4.30pm kick-offs, plus evening games on Mondays and Fridays and three midweek rounds.

TNT will show a minimum of 52 matches a season including all 12.30pm kick-offs on Saturdays and two midweek match rounds.

Sky Sports will also broadcast all 10 matches on the final day of each season.

hi @Alfie2809

The others have kindly given info on the games being shown and how other broadcasters have some of the rights etc.

Just to let you know, there is no need for additional channels - streaming is the way forward  & since last year SKY launched a revised SKY Sports app which allows many simultaneous games to be watched live (all that they have rights to)  so the chances of being to watch your team is much higher now. (although streaming does mean you must have a good enough internet connection)
