I'm responding to @Chrisee and @nolte as they replied to my comments. My responses are not directed at you, so I'm unsure why you're engaging with me. Out of respect, I won’t be continuing this conversation with you, @best+of+the+best , as in a previous thread, I felt my points were overlooked, and I had to repeatedly clarify myself. I’m noticing the same pattern here. You're reiterating that Sky Q relies on satellite while Sky Glass/Stream uses the Internet, which is something I already understand. That’s precisely why I crossed off the Internet-related sections.

The focus of this discussion is on the features and capabilities of each system and which one is the better overall option, not on how they receive channels, apps, and information whether via satellite or solely Internet

If your goal is to help @SPENCER1956, I’d encourage you to share insights on the advantages and disadvantages of Sky Q, Sky Glass and/or Sky Stream to assist them in making a decision, rather than continuing to reply to me.

Actually I can reply to your comments posts etc etc 

As I mentioned before Sky Q is connected to a Satellite dish but also requires Broadband/Internet to get the best out of the Sky Q system

Have you tried using Sky Q when the internet has gone down ?

To actually answer your question (because everyone else on here is too busy bickering amongst themselves), you should choose whichever service suits your viewing needs. 

If you don't need a new TV then you don't need Sky Glass.

If you like how Sky Q works and don't fancy the idea of losing the ability to record what you want, when you want, then stick with it. You are paying a high price for your package compared to many others so if you are outside your contracted period then you should negotiate a new deal with Sky. You should easily be able to get the cost well under £100. Often if you add Sky Cinema to your package it will vastly reduce the cost of Sky Sports to the point that you'll be paying less than before but will gain Sky Cinema & Paramount+, even if you don't watch them. 

Give Sky a ring or go on live chat and negotiate. Tell them you're thinking about cancelling and moving to Virgin due to cost.

I think the price difference is partly because it's a new fixed contract, and partly because Sky probably wants people moving over from Q to Streaming if possible. I think their sales team may also gain some kind of comission or have some kind of target for Glass TVs, so that may be a factor too.

I'm really happy with Sky streaming. The one problem I occasionally have is that sound is out of sync but a (hopefully) fix for this is rolling out currently. I prefer it to Sky Q but it is a different beast. I would recommend before signing up to try to stop recording on Sky Q for a week or two, and just use the on-demand services instead. This is because SkyOS doesn't do recording and it's all streamed from either Sky or the apps.

Now, that experience on Sky Q might be a bit annoying because you'll have to find each of those shows on the services to watch them and you may have ads you can't skip. Sky Stream/Glass solves this by aggregating all of the content from services into one playlist and with the ad skipping addon that you mentioned you can fast forward through ads on apps like ITVX and Channel 4.

But the reason I raise this is a test for you of can you live without recordings? For me, the answer was a resounding yes and so adopting Streaming made a lot of sense to me.

I would also suggest you try to get to a Sky Store or even just watch the Sky Glass Youtube playlist to get a feel of the system.

And as other have alluded to, you need to make sure your home network is up to standard. You'll need at least 30Mbps for whole home and UHD but really that's the minimum I'd be comfortable with. It's worth going to where your TVs would be situated and on your phone go to fast.com and measure the speeds.

Make sure that you're comfortable with the Sky Stream/Glass TV channel list as there are some differences from the Sky Q platform. Mostly this is that:

• +1 channels don't exist
• Adult channels don't exist
• Some smaller operations such as Talking Pictures TV and some religious or international channels don't exist

Finally, just to reiterate that for me as a previous Sky Q user and now a Stream user (which is the same system as Glass, but on an existing TV) I much prefer Sky Stream and I wouldn't go back even if the future of Q was certain.

Indeed it does. There is no rhyme nor reason to how Sky's pricing works. It's entirely random and varies wildly, depending on who you speak to on any particular day.

On a couple of occasions when I had Sky+ HD, then Sky Q, I had excellent retention offers by being honest and polite. On other occasions I had terrible offers. I've put in cancellation notices on more than one occasion and they always resulted in a much better offer.
