Re: Tennis on sky sports

According to the [removed] on the forum, you can be disappointed, just as long as you don't blame Sky. It's not Sky's fault they advertise having extensive tennis coverage which implies the slams. You should read the fineprint. This does not include the French Open and more. You should also not blame Sky if Sky Sports in Europe includes this coverage as standard but Sky Sports in the UK does not.

Again. Not Sky's fault.

They have Eurosport (TNT in the UK) who have the rights and where the Roland Garros is being shown, it is not being shown on Sky Sports in Italy.  The fact they have a Sky Sports sub is irrelevant as Eurosport in Europe, like it was in the UK, is not part of a sports subscription but the base subscription.   This applies across all platform providers in Europe including Sky Italy,  Sky Germany, Canal+, Movistar etc.

Sky Group does not currently have RG rights in Italy or anywhere else: Discovery Inc paid the French Tennis Federation rather a large amount of money back in 2021 to make sure of that.

https://www.rolandgarros.com/en-us/article/discovery-inc-awarded-exclusive-rg-multi-platform-rights

The subsequently merged Warner Bros Discovery Inc chose to cease Eurosport channel broadcasting to the UK and RoI (i.e. the footprint of the Astra 28.2E satellite cluster) and via all online distribution to the same territories (Sky Glass/Stream, Virgin cable, EE TV etc.) in February 2025, while also changing the version of Discovery+ bundled 'free' with Sky to a new 'Basic' tier without any Sports content.

My personal suspicion is that WBD is using the relatively small audience here as a testbed for premium TNT take-up before widening the end of broadcast to the European mainland: these are their channels, apps and content rights, so they can do whatever they see fit with them.

French Open…disappointed that I cannot watch the French Open

Actually it was on Eurosport hitherto, which was not a Sky channel.

Warner Brothers who own the rights to Roland Garros decided to move it from the free Eurosport channel to TNT in the UK, which requires a subscription..

Re: Roland Garros on discovery+

I have TNT sports and I still can't watch the other matches that are available on Discovery+, it's beyond infuriating! The sky assurance bit told me to reset my box and all the apps which can take up to 24hrs to refresh. Awful!!

Me too - so annoyed , I was really looking forward to watching Jack Draper . It's a rip off and not good customer service for Sky customers .

I assume you mean not good customer service by WBD?

In what way do you feel 'ripped off'?

Complain to Warner Brothers. As pointed out here multiple times, it has nothing to do with Sky,

Perhaps everyone posting similar comments to this thread would like to let Sky know how much more they are prepared to pay on their Sports subscription so that Sky Group can outbid Warner Bros Discovery Inc for European rights to Roland Garros in 2027 and beyond...

Alternatively, I guess writing to the French Tennis Federation to suggest they might want to cease to offer nearly 60 million Euros in prize money and then give their tournament away to broadcast platforms for nothing is always an option ; )

Re: Roland Garros 2025

Totally stupid how whenever Jack Draper plays, his match is put on all TNT (Roland Garros) channels, even if a bigger match on the main court is also being played.  Today being the exception as Norrie is playing at the same time.

Sky in Germany & Italy do not show Roland Garros on Sky sports as they don't have the rights, Eurosport do.

I'm not sure thay you think they do? Any evidence?

Re: Roland Garros 2025

Same for me.  I already pay Sky over a £100 per month and I don't want to pay TNT Sports another £30.99 per month just to watch Roland Garros (I've no interest in TNT's other sports coverage).  I have  Discovery+  through Sky but TNT Sports is a chargeable upgrade. Any suggestions please?  Thanks.
