No Channel 521 NBC News????

Has anyone else lost Channel 521 today. It keeps saying Channel Unavailable

So NBC news has gone and we also lost Fox news a few years ago which I liked the choice of what is happening Sky bring them back.

I suspect this is the start of them planning to remove 24/7 broadcast of Sky News, and they will instead just broadcast a few hours of NBC News Now Channel in the overnight slot on Sky News.

They have started doing that on NBC News Now with them boradcasting Sky News during unsocialable hours so wouldn't surprise me if this now happens as a result of it being removed from UK broadcast.

NBC Is avialable elsewhere free of charge.

Fox won't return  as they can't stick to Ofcom rules.

NBC News Now is live on YouTube so you can watch it via Sky that way. Not as easy as an EPG slot but it's  a potential solution.

NBC News Now was removed from the EPG on 7 December 2023, but it is still broadcasting via the manual channels. Also, this is for satellite receivers only. One cannot manually add channels on Sky Glass or Stream.

Just FYI: satellite receivers in this case means Sky Q and Sky+HD. I don't think older receivers can get it as it's a HD channel. 

Also, this channel is encrypted, but not region locked. This means that one needs a Sky Viewing Card and a Sky Signature subscription to view it and it can be viewed in Ireland.

Fox News chose to exit the UK broadcast market in the summer of 2017: their stated reason was the service wasn't commercially viable, but it was widely assumed that they were unwilling to continue to abide by the much stricter standards in the Broadcasting Code than apply in the US for impartial coverage.  It's presumably also significant that this happened just at the time 21^st Century Fox was attempting to acquire a majority stake in Sky Group (before being outbid by Comcast).

The EPG data says "NBC News Now has closed", so I don't know for how long it'll continue broadcasting.

Also, it will continue to remain on https://www.nbcnews.com/now and NBC News'  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@NBCNews 

So this means, you can open the YouTube app on Sky Q/Glass/Stream and search "NBC News Now" to continue watching it, even when the satellite feed is discontinued.

SKY just stopped the feed a few days ago. Looks like it’s going to have to be Youtube now, because I miss it. It was so upbeat, even if news is depressing. Guess it's all about the delivary. Thank you very much @ZyloKai for the links and all the help :0) Rachael
