Thanks - as that hasn't been marked as the answer, I didn't even see that when I viewed the original thread.

Re: From season 2

hi can someone please check

Has this all come out solely in SD/HD with ads,

or also available in UHD/UHD HDR without ads?

That will make my mind up as to weather a rewatch via Sky is worth it.

honestly can't stomach watching ad laden TV from a company that "Believes in better" but doesn't care not one bit about it's paying customers!!!!

Sky need an ad free TV segment.

Apple YouTube Disney Amazon Netflix Paramount Discovery BBC Ch4 & ITV all offer this.

it's just Ch5 & Sky that force advertisement onto its customer base.

@seandrews I don't understand why you have such an issue with adverts when you clearly watch shows illegally either by pirating them or using services not available in the UK(which is obtaining services or goods by deception and that is technically fraud).

As we've explored before many, many times, all the companies you list are running on fundamentally different business models to Sky (and the BBC different again from all the others, of course)

* * * * * * *

Sky Glass 55" (on ethernet) & two Stream Pucks (one ethernet / one WiFi)
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2

Re: From season 2

I don't download nor stream personally.

I know of people that do.

I also totally understand why

so skys business model is to alienate every person in the UK who wants to watch a TV show uninterrupted?

Strange, care to explain why?
I can't figure that out.

all the other companies listed are in various stages of success and I would imagine that it is for the reason of the ad free options they offer.

I would guess their ad free plans are those most subscribed to and I would guess the ad free experience is the deciding factor.

Re: From season 2

Fast forwarded through the HD download version there was ads before the programme 3 ads inserted to within the programme and also ads after the final credits.

why is there ads within the on demand versions?

if the comeback is "you can fast forward through them" it seems all the more ridiculous as they are not being watched anyway.

Who is watching the ads during on demand downloaded content?

I would understand if Sky made the programmes available on demand with unskippable ads, which I wouldn't put past them.

also this show has come and gone in the US & probably around the world too

so Sky must know that fans of the show have probably seen it (that's a different debate) or gotten spoilers online probably from forums such as on DS which have an array of "US PACE" threads which probably started with the absence of Sky doing deals for shows to be simulcasted or at least on the next day. Until recently this was not very prevalent at all.

I would say Sky has been the biggest indirect influence & contributor & factor in the rise of piracy via download and streaming of TV shows in the U.K.

Re: From season 2

I haven't seen this show at all, didn't know anything about it & wasn't going to bother tbh. Then yesterday on the Sky Q Homepage I saw a tile for it & a quote saying something like " "scary as hell"... Stephen King " which is usually enough for me to get interested so I d/l S1 E1. So, Stephen likes it but I thought I'd ask on here, is it any good? Obviously, no spoilers, please.

Re: From season 2

I was late to the party on season 1 but now half way through season 2.

its really good. Already renewed for season 3 by MGM.

Tons of characters where the plot can evolve. Good to something a little different.

Hi @merv60

Really enjoyed Season 1. Certainly something a bit different. I'd liken it a bit to LOST, in that you're never quite sure what's really going on.

The trouble with programs like this (and LOST) is that while ever there's another Season in the making, you know that it can't "end" and once they announce a 'final season' you know that it will "end".

@oj01  It's a good job that I'm going by what Stephen King said because you're never going to sell it to me by saying it's like Lost. I watched Lost when it originally aired & to this day I'm still annoyed about the amount of time I wasted doing so. Hopefully with From, they already have a complete story arc, with a beginning, a middle & an end, rather than making stuff up as they go along.

@merv60 I don't disagree about how Lost ended up. But the way the first (couple) seasons were intriguing is what made me think of it when I watched S1 of From.

Like you say, hopefully the whole story is mapped out, but when the Networks get a 'hit' on their hands, they just want it to continue running.

@oj01  Okay, I get your point about Lost. As for being mapped out, that does seem to be a thing these days. I've read more than once about various programmes ( Stranger Things comes to mind ) having a 3, 4, or 5 seasons arc all planned in advance. This makes a lot of sense & the series doesn't outstay its welcome. All they need to be worried about then is being cancelled before they reach the end of that arc.
