F1 Catch up

Dear Sky, 

Is there any reason why the race catch up is so delayed? Why on earth you cannot simply upload it let's say an hour after the event? Why do I have to wait till next day for it to show? Honestly, I don't understand it and I would love to hear why your service is still in 2014 not 2024 in terms of user friendliness. And if you cannot get it right, then give the rights to someone who can. Dissapointing to say the least.

Why not just record it live ?

Anyway you hit the nail on the head in your question. Its all to do with rights, Channel 4 have the rights to show highligts before anyone else in the UK and so Sky can't until Channel 4 have had their bite of the cherry.

Whilst I agree that recording any event is the best solution, I'm not sure of your basis for saying that Sky can't show xyz until C4 have done so.

Sky hold all the primary rights to F1, C4's rights are secondary. All the restrictions on who can show what, when, are likely to have been those which Sky have imposed on C4. Obviously sight of the contract - impossible - would be the only way to verify the terms.

I very much doubt Sky would have tied their own hands in the way you suggest.
