Disney Channel UK returns!?

Both Disney Channel UK and Disney Junior UK will be relaunched after 5 years on November 1st, 2025, after most of the content of both channels moved to Disney+

But what is the source of that claim, and why is there only one test channel? The amount of mad speculation this potential Disney Junior relaunch has caused is really strange.

A tv station being launched on a Saturday feels very unusual.

To be honest - it would be a bit mad for Disney to relaunch both channels at the same time, i would expect them to perhaps launch one channel, see how well that does, and potentially then consider if a second channel is appropriate.

I don't know what the appeal of launching kids channels on linear TV would be. I see there may be more value in Disney Junior returning as a linear TV channel, but the demographic that would be aimed at for the Disney channel just simply doesn't watch linear TV anymore. I would think Disney would be better off using YouTube to target that demographic, be it by posting shows there or by live-streaming content.

The Channel seems to be on air with SKY Encryption (Entertainment) (Test Transmission) I can't dencrypt it because it needs an SKY Original Box with Pairied Card.

Since my card is not longer Paired, the channel Stays Dark, and Sky do not Pair Cards with old Boxes.

At the moment you will find this Channel if you add it under Other Channels.  Name is still 5183

According to Disney Wiki, it said that: The Disney Channel returned to the UK, just 5 years after it closed down in favor of Disney+., that's on October 3rd

That's not an official source, it looks more like a Wikipedia type website.

Instead of speculation it's best to wait for any official announcement from Disney regarding what plans they may or may not have for relaunching linear TV channels.

I saw the Sky testing 55255 which is in the entertainment Genre, but what is this a new future channel

It might be another disney related channel it might sense since nothing be confirmed for disney channel uk and disney junior yet there be testing everything first before a press release

A Disney Jr. feed has now appeared test broadcasting, and it's avaliable if you have a kids package. It's in hidden channels. 🙂

Quite literally so.

Disney already does air 24/7 live streams of Disney Channel and XD shows on YouTube now, and they always have a few thousand people watching at the same time.. Inbetween the shows there is a promo for that show streaming on Disney+.
